    Isn't that a true statement.

So true. Terrell Owens once thought football needed him. Now he can't even keep a job with the Indoor Football League.

I remember watching a Tom Brady interview after he tore his acl and he said the one thing about football is how quickly anyone can be replaced. He talked about going down on one play and the very next play Matt Cassell was the pats qb and he was out for the year. I would like to have Mike Wallace out there but at the end of the day there are a million guys that can step up and catch deep balls or stretch the field or whatever. He better not get greedy because it could cost him even more than he realizes.

He's going to end up costing himself some money down the road. New offense that everyone else is learning. He gets playbook, but not there for reps (yes, I know they're in shorts still). He doesn't play as well and every team sees/believes he's a one trick pony. No one pays that kind of money to one trick pony. I think him and Brown have a play off each other that could be like Swann and Stallworth.

Here is my question though. IF Haley's offense is really hard to learn and IF the other guys are "frustrated" by it and IF they need all the practice they can get to try and understand it then how does Wallace plan to get paid for his performance when he doesn't even know the plays? The really interesting thing here is that IF he plays the whole year and does play well then wouldn't it lay to rest once and for all the whole drama about the new offense being too complicated?

Glad to hear what Ike had to say. Hopefully he came through to Mike. Kinda wish Ike would have put down the damn phone though, lol

It's my understanding that the only one frustrated is Ben. All the other players keep talking about how great they think the offence is and how excited they are with the new playbook.

I haven't gotten the sense that the offense is too difficult to learn. I've heard one comment by Ben after a practice that it's a little frustrating, which is to be expected for any offense with a new OC and playbook.

as much as i would like to see wallace remain a steeler, i think that someone should point out recent history, namely us going to the super bowl following the loss of very productive receivers (plax and holmes)........... ike spoke a very hard truth............. no one is irreplaceable

To be fair, though, he's getting on a bit now. But if he had devoted half the time he spent poncing about to actually getting his head down and playing, his career wouldn't have unravelled in quite the way it did.

Of course, I don't think that Wallace is poncing around in anywhere near the same way.

Eurgh... did I just try and defend TO? Someobody shoot me.

Yup, it might hit home if the Plax/Holmes point was made also. Nice job.

I'm glad Ike said such sage advice was given to him. Ike's a smart man. A player with Wallace's skill set (set means more than one trick) can still make a crazy comfortable living in this league and have on field success all at the same time with this organization. That can't be said for a lot of teams. He needs that to be understood if money isn't his only priority.

On his weekly radio spot he said he told him he was dealing with a monster and it was the pittsburgh steelers.

Not only that, but Ben said that after one practice. No matter how easy to learn it is, it will still be frustrating the very first time you do it.

As long as Mike doesn't miss training camp or preseason, I doubt he'll be visibly less up to date than the other receivers. And he does have a playbook so it's not like he's out of the loop, he just hasn't gotten to see it yet. It won't take him long to catch up.

You people know that Ike Taylor is Dan Rooney's BOY, one of Dan's
    favorite players.

this is a prime example of why he is a team favorite.. he signed with the steelers .. he could have went somewhere else for more money
