It's crazy now how much fans can interact w/ athletes like never before with twitter which can be good and bad. I was trolling a little bit on Marcus Gilbert today and was pretty surprised to see him respond to my tweet...

I just don't see Gilbert falling into that trap. Apparently he's a pretty smart guy and comes from a solid family background.

I know I might sound like an old fart, but not only does it seem silly to wear clashing logo's like that, but bragging about wearing all these logo's is tacky.

It kind of comes from the music scene I grew up with, but being a billboard for these corporate designers makes you look like a Nascar vehicle. I just don't get it. I think if people could wear neon they would.

My old man's mind was blown when people paid big bucks and wore those Coca Cola shirts in the 80's.

I wouldn't call it trolling. I'd call it the truth.

lol I have no problem with him "calling me out" if that's what it was. He has a right to say whatever he wants even if I am a fan.

I just saw his pic and thought it was dumb, and really did think to myself I bet those guys that are bankrupt were like that at one time... I didn't think he'd even read it.

Ugh, I thought lineman were supposed to be smart??? I'm not talking about what he spends his money on but the fact that he couldn't grasp SBD's comment  But, I'll cut him some slack, you were trolling after all, so no wonder he took it as an attack :lolol:

First off I think Gilbert and Batch needs to learn how to be ---Social Media Respectful-- the way James Harrison and Lamaar Woodley are.

Secondly I like to add I wear Nike socks with New Balance Tennis shoes because I can afford it!!!!!

PS.. My teenage kids hate it!!

Dunno - you can read his response as a very quick "ah, leave it out", or a more irritated "how dare you insult my new brown shoes!"

The rules of social media apply to everyone though - if you post a public picture of your new outfit, don't expect universal admiration. If you don't get universal admiration, don't get unhappy.

lol that was my thought as well. Like, yes, exactly... You can afford it now, but the point is you might not always be able to.

Hey, what do I know? Maybe shoes are Gilbert's thing he loves so he splurges there and is smart with his money elsewhere. I doubt it, but maybe.

    You're right on.

If shoes are what he splurges on, and thats it, then great. Its better than Bentleys and Lambos. In the long run, it wont be the shoes that are his undoing. But with the ink barely dry on his first contract and wasting money on over priced shoes, its not a good sign of things to come. Odds are that he will end up broke in 15 years. Most players do. The instant fortunes of the NFL are too much for the average mid twenty something to handle.
