That pick has to be 2nd only to Tom Brady by the Patriots in the past 20 years. Too bad AB has only been to one Super Bowl.

I never said Burns was better that Haden so that is the first reason cause Haden is a lot better but it don't mean Burns is garbage. Also if you play ball you know the game plan is go after the weaker guy and I don't care how good you are if you are expecting help and don't get it you will look bad. I would like to also see the numbers as to how many times more Burns was targeted then Haden. Again let's see what happen this season and sitting here talking about it won't change anything cause Burns is going to be the starter. We need to hope that was the problem other wise we are in for a replay of last year and I don't want that. One good thing is we have Sutton in the wings waiting so at least there is an answer in season too.

I'm just being a realist. Just because I like the team doesn't mean I cant be realistic about them.

I feel your pain. I get flak for being objective and a realist regarding the Steelers. Some people label me a Patriots fan even though I've been a die-hard Steelers fan since 1979 season and 7 years of age. Why the hell would I be a fan of the team I hate the most? I guess I do envy the Patriots for their ability to make the Super Bowl year in and year out, along with their competent coaching staff who turn average stiffs into good players. I wish the Steelers could do that.

That's the thing with the so called "Realist" crowd. They're never realistic with their expectations.

I don't doubt your commitment to the team - on the contrary, it's always good to have counterbalance to expectations.

I guess the thing for me is that it doesn't equate to being more objective or realistic. Case example: when we lost to the Pats a few years back with Landry as QB, the game was fairly close. But some (honestly can't remember if it was you - it might have been, but this isn't a dig, just an illustration) started saying the Pats had stopped trying in the 4th quarter, and if Brady had been a bit more accurate etc. we would have been annihilated. My view was that the history of BB suggests he doesn't let up like that, and it's more likely the game was, in fact, fairly close on that particular day. Who is being more realistic in that case? It's not clear cut. We could argue for either point of view, but it's not a case of one view being realistic and the other idealistic. It's just looking at different variables in the same game.

To quote Dead Poets Society there is a difference between sucking the marrow out of life and choking on the bone. What you see as being real is choking on the bone.

I am not so sure your being realistic as much as you are being negative. Here is an article showing Burns production after his first season and compared to the other 1st round CB's:

    https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.c...in-the-2016-draft-class-jalen-ramsey-steelers

Now the problem is he slid to a #43 ranking this year but the question is was it performance or coaching/scheme/personal? We can go back and forth all we want but in the end it is a wait and see but Burns wasn't to bad his rookie year so I lean more to the fact it was scheme and personal then ability.

There is a pretty big difference between being realistic and being negative, you have your opinion and I respect it but I wouldn't call it realistic......:smiley1:

So the scheme and personell from his rookie year dramatically changed? And thing was for his rookie season he played SLOT FOR THE MOST PART. He didn't come out as a starter. Is he a good slot guy? I'd say he'd be solid there but he's not an outside corner that can be put on that island. I said before the draft eli apple would bust. Was never sold on him lattimore and ward are 100000x better than he was and both will continue to prove so. Also why are your even mentioning him. Do you see me raving about any of those other guys other than ramsey?

Yea, that source isn't too homer. Burns as good (or better) than Ramsey?

You literally have to be blind to think that. Ramsey is playing like a future hall of famer. Burns is lucky to even be a starter.

Dude did you read the article he was comparing him after year one to the other CB's drafted in the first round. After year 2 it is a whole different thing, however now with Mitchell is gone let's see what happens.

Too bad we didn’t get WJIII. Burns is dog poop.

Although maybe without Mitchell there our secondary becomes good
