Steelers should go ILB or Safety in the 1st round.... not RB.

Bell will try to sit out longer than the beginning of the season to pressure the Steelers. If the Steelers can select a high potential back to go with Conner and Ridley; perhaps they will play well behind the Steelers O-line in the first 4-5 games. This would nullify Bell's leverage. I tend to believe much of a RB's success is due to the O-line. I still believe they should trade Bell for a #1 pick or just let him sit out the season. Per Cody Benjamin, CBS Sports, five teams would probably belly up to the bar to trade for Bell - Raiders, Bucs, Giants, Browns, and the Jets. I like the browns. They have great #1 picks. Plus if anyone could screw up Bell, it is them. And the Steelers have chance twice a season to pull a Burfict on Bell.

My fellow members. Understand that this is due diligence.

I am certain that the team understands what the needs are. Can they obtain that particular need remains to be seen; Free Agency and/or draft.

So you’re telling me the team doesn’t look at every knee jerk reaction in this forum before making any of their decisions? Could have foooed me

I would hate to have to pick a back that high. But Guice is going to be a good player. If there isn't a saftey or Lb they like at that pick, maybe they go that way. It wouldn't shock me.

It sucks that Bell has them at the point where they are meeting with Rbs at the combine. Very selfish. I wonder how that patient running style will look behind the Browns Oline? :hmm:

At this point (After this Franchise tag) he's not going to be a Steeler after 18' unless he gets hurt this next season.

That Franchise tag makes his value crazy and he's unrestricted next year. Of course I doubt anyone pays him the kind of long term money he wants at that point in his career.

Makes sense to see what you can stock the cabinet with in this draft if you think your next RB is there and you don't think Conner is it.

I agree maybe if Bell see's that unlike last year the Steelers are ready to sign long term or move on then it could help things move along. Do we have bigger needs heck yeah but to do this is now sending a message to Bell, I like it. Just because we have needs don't mean we can't look at other positions, what if for some reason the guys we like Evans, LVE and Harrison are gone and a talent like Guice is still there? I am glad the Steelers are keeping their options open, we had a need one time at WR and drafted Troy Edwards,

New OC and 2 players that probably won't be in it after this year. Pretty good chance one of them holds out and a good chance both may play just well enough to not get hurt waiting for the bigger payday. Don't discount the need on the offensive side of the ball too. Connor is coming off of knee surgery and we need RBs. Another wr would not be out of the question either. Juju nor AB are burners by any means for that take the top off guy downfield. Eli Rogers is coming off of knee surgery too, so yes we need offensive players too. We have a TE that plays about every 3 games. We most likely lose a guy like Hubbard that started most of the season for us. Gilbert gets hurt a lot. I'm not sure our backup is ready to start yet or is good enough yet. We also lose that 3rd center which we have used many times in the last several years. Ramon is getting old and also had surgery this off season. So yes we have offensive needs too.

Trade Bell to the Giants for a 1st and 3rd, pick up Chubb or Freeman, use our pick for ILB or Safety.

Bell can't be traded until he signs his tender, he won't be signing anytime soon either.

Once they put the exclusive tag on him he is the exclusive property of the steelers for one year, no team can make an offer even if he doesnt sign the tag.........

    • An exclusive franchise tag means a team will pay that player no less than the average of the top five salaries at the player's position, or 120 percent of the player's previous salary, whichever is greater. The player is not allowed to negotiate with other teams.
