Very silly, fans need to get over this he let down the team thing. At what point do we stop giving chances, this guy came back and played ball and was a pretty good team player the 2nd half. We are not talking a guy we have a whole lot invested in he is cheap but has high upside....you can't replace that and still try to win a super bowl.

I am a trade back guy, I know last year I talked about it a lot. Of course it all depends who is there and how many spots we have to trade back to. Like this article says a QB could fall and we could get a nice haul for the pick and like last year rounds 2-4 this year are pretty full of talent. jmo

Minkah is better than adams. Better ballhawk, coverage guy, and playmaker.

I like James he will be a playmaker but he's not the guy we need. We need a earl Thomas type of guy who can elimanate the middle of the field and ballhawk.

This would be a good year to do it. Maybe get that 4th back in the process. Though I'd love to get me some Sam Hubbard but that probably wasn't going to happen anyway. Wishful thinking.:smiley1: if we got that 4th it may change things around as to what positions we may pick.

Last off season Ben said he was going to take some time before deciding whether he was going to continue playing or not. I don't think he really wanted to retire, he's just a drama queen and wanted people to beg him to stay. But, we are probably going to need a good QB in another 2 or 3 years.

    I like QB Luke Falk, 6' 4", 223 lbs, 3593 yds, 30 TD, 13 TD, 66.9% comp, 137 rating, Eastern Washington.

He has the highest completion percentage of any of the top QB's at 66.9%, even better than Darnold.

We would probably have to move up to be sure to get him and I know it's a couple of years early to use a high pick on a QB so we shouldn't make that move just yet unless the team really knows that Ben is retiring soon.

I have QB Luke Falk rated at 20 in the 1st round but teams always inflate QB's value so I think we would have to trade at least our 1st and 2nd to move up to 18 or so to get him. I would only do it if we were sure Ben was only going to play another year or two, if Ben is going to play another 3 years then I would wait.

Well we will see about that I don't think he goes in the 1st round and maybe not even the 2nd. No way in heck to we trade up for a QB in the first to sit behind Ben a couple years. We have so many needs right now QB is not one of them and I like Falk he is a guy I have been wanting to watch but every time I turn him on(bowl game, senior bowl) he wasn't playing.

I might have QB Luke Falk over valued. What round do you have Falk in?

I think the one drawback on him is that he played at Eastern Washington, not exactly SEC talent.

I don't think we would do it or should do it unless we knew that Ben was planning on retiring after this next season or after the 2019 season.

I don't do a ranking I just read what others rank and then judge by what we need and depth at that position in the draft. I don't think Falk is in the top 100 so I am guessing late 2nd - 4th is about where he could end up depending on the QB run. I think Falk falls someplace in the 8-11 range as far as positional ranks.

I don't like letting a player sit when we draft them high cause in this day of the cap every "cheap" year counts. When it comes time for Ben to go I would like to see a guy come in and play in year one kinda like Ben did, you are seeing it more and more now. Players coming from college are more NFL ready now a days imo.

QB's Darnold, Allen, and Rosen are all going top 15 in the 1st round.

QB Mason Rudolph might go in the late 1st early 2nd.

QB Baker Mayfield, I don't know because of all the off field stuff, I would say maybe late 1st to early 2nd.

So, with fives QB's going ahead of him Falk could go late 2nd round. I always inflate QB's value so maybe I do have him rated too high.

I am the opposite of you as far as drafting our next franchise QB. I think we need to start looking for a good QB one to two years before Ben retires. I don't want to have to watch us go 3-13.

Do you think trading our 3rd and Martavis to a WR needy team in the mid teens would get it done if Derwin James or Vita Vea were still there?

Browns, NYG, Denver and the Jets could all pick QB's in the top 6 spots. Darnold, Allen, Rosen and Mayfield. IMO no way does Rudolph get past the Bill and it wouldn't surprise me to see the Bills double up with his WR Washington with back to back picks. I think the next pick at QB will be Jackson at the end of the first early 2nd. That leaves Falk and White as the next guys, imo. I think Lauletta with a big senior bowl has opened eyes and Ferguson could be 3rd or 4th rounders.

My problem with drafting a QB and letting him sit for a year or two is you lose those cheap years. Prime example take Deshaun Watson signed a 4yr 13.8m contract. Could you imagine having a QB at 3-4m a year....for 4 years and a good QB at that? I think players are more "NFL ready" now and this could be so important to the cap. jmo

Like Baltimore is the 16th pick they have been looking for a WR for some time. Would they pull the trigger to get MB and our third to move down 12 spots

I don't know, but I do know I don't want to trade Bryant and it sounds like the Steelers don't either. The other thing is I like James but no way do I want the Steelers to draft Vea. We have so many more needs, more important needs like ILB, S, OLB, RB, Oline and CB to worry about a DT in the first. Also the DT position might be the deepest in this draft imo Ford, Hill, Jones, Fatukasi and Brown could all be had later and are also pretty good.

I agree that DT isnt a big need but ive watched alot of vea and i think he will be better than Ngata ever was and if you can get a player of that caliber you get him.
I also have a feeling that 4 maybe 5 QBs will go in the top 15 which will force some great players to fall. If 4 or 5 QBs go in the top 15 that will leave the Ravens sitting there at 16 with i believe one of the following available. Derwin James, Tremaine Edmunds, Roquan Smith, Josh Jackson, and Marcus Davenport not to mention Vea.
I know your feeling of Vea and James, but what if one of the others fall. I would give our 2nd and MB to the Ravens for Tremaine Edmunds. I would give our 3rd and MB for Smith,Davenport, James, and Vea.
I think Edmunds is gonna be a top 3 player at his position in 3 years. Thats how good i think he is.
    Thought?

I pretty much agree with you about the top QB's and the teams that have QB needs. Arizona is another team that needs a QB and Buffalo might draft a QB but someone is going to get Kirk Cousins, some say NY Jets but I think it will probably be Denver.

I think it's still a bit early but I would use a top draft pick on a good QB prospect one year before Ben retires. Three or four years out is too long.

I just can't stomach having to watch the team have a Cleveland Browns type of season.

As good as Vea may be the NFL is becoming a passing league and I am not crazy about investing our #1 on a player for 2 downs when we have so many other needs and this class is deep at DT. As for trading up I am one that thinks more is better and I feel this draft is pretty deep in rounds 2-4 so I am a trade back kind of guy. Yeah Smith, James and Edmunds would all be great but trading up to get them will cost us a pick and a player. MB is too valuable imo to our offense and is a very impressive deep threat. I feel we are a team that is close, very close and adding more parts imo is way better than trading for a very good talent. I like the way you are looking at it but I am on the other side of the fence here.

This is yet another reason why I have pushed for Bell to sign a 4 year deal. I like the idea of a rookie QB coming in here after Ben hangs em up and having a solid oline and guys like Bell, AB and Juju in place to help him out. I think a Rookie could come right in and start, I would live with one year of learning from Ben but not no more.
