Word down here in Miami is that he will be released March 14 according to Miami Herald.

I know he's past his prime, but he knows the system and could be had relatively cheap. I can see us signing him as a bridge until our rookie ILB learns the ropes and then for depth. He also wouldn't count against us next year with comp picks.

That ship has sailed. How about a young 20 something that can run and shed blocks

Sign him to add depth so we don't have to see Spence or Fort anymore, but other than that I don't want him as a starter.

If he get released March 14th he should be signed by the Steelers on March 15.

I wonder who, realistically, would be in the market to sign him?

    Not a rhetorical question...

There's a time when I would have been interested in seeing the Steelers pick him back up, but that time is no more.

They will bring him back. He is knowledgeable and can assist greatly in the development of younger players. He can also fill in for Ryan if he is needing more time. Clearly we need to draft a new ILB, however, we also need a player to jump in right away. Timmons knows the defense and is a pro. He just needs to be in shape and willing to play cheap. It would be better to have him over Fort, Moats or Spence. LT is a Steeler and loves this area.

If he resigns he will be an upgrade at ilb. We desperately needed a guy like him last year.

Back up to who? We don't have anybody that can play. Even if we use a first round pick on the position there's no guarantee that player will be ready day 1.

I always thought LT was underrated, but not sure a mid 30's guy is the way to go; didn't we already have ILBs who can't run last year?

Back up to the FA we sign or draft and yeah I am pretty confident that a rookie be able to start day one, Watt did it. It is happening more and more, these college kids are getting better more NFL ready coaching than ever leading to more and more guys starting as rookies.

The natural progression in Pittsburgh is to hire him as a coach.
