Would be great if he recovers 100% and is able to play football again, but...please, please, please somebody tell him to stop leading with the crown of his helmet if he's ever able to get back on the field again.:beg:

Absolutely love Ryan but I can't believe he would even think about coming back. I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night so i'm going to say its to risky.

It all depends on what the doctors say. This may be an injury that fully heals with no future risk. I have no doubt Ryan will be back, he loves the game and wants to play.

IDK, brother, work on obtaining a normal life first, before focusing so much on playing in the NFL again.

If his dream of getting back is what is driving him as he goes through a long recovery then go for it. But once he is able to walk and lead a normal life I to am fearful of a repeat injury and hope he evaluates the risk.

Some of his best hits where has blown up a WR or RB on a screen have been crown of the helmet type hits.

Maybe its technique or too much speed but it is scary to watch. Kuechly does the same thing and I think a year ago he made a tackle very similar to Ryans and he concussed himself and missed 4 games.

It surprising that guys reach that level of football and tackle head first or more importantly head down.

If this motivates Shazier fine, keep at it. However, I doubt any doctor will give him medical clearance to play again.

It actually got serious for a moment and pretty good.
    Perfect morning shaving banter!
Like I was in the locker room.

Whatever motivates him to stay on course. Living a normal life would be my first priority. If he gets cleared to play again kudos to him and the medical professionals. Personally I wouldn't take the chance of being paralyzed for the rest of my life. But it's his life. And his decision.

He won't be playing this season. He will be paid the 5th year option for 8.7 and deserves every penny.

Next season he will be a UFA.

So what do the Steelers do? Do they take a chance on extending him lessening the cap hit this season? Give a 3 year deal? Put a clause in the contract if he can't play again, he gets an injury settlement. And stays with the organization.

With the medical risk still present it is a tough decision. And only the medical professionals can make that determination.

I think he should take a year off, rehab and spend time with the wife to make a Shaz Jr, in order to grow up with Ben Jr and AB's kids and even a JuJuJunior in order to bring us Championships in the 2040-2050 seasons. The heredity's got to be better than the Patriots kids whose fathers all used deflated balls.
