LB Cushing to be released - don't even start

He's been overrated since day 1. He's been busted doing PEDs, twice.

He had a whopping 6 tackles, and 1.5 sacks.

He is 30.

He is a known a hole; think modern-day Romanowski, with far less production.

I wouldn't give it a single thought to bringing him into Pgh. Move on. He is trash.

 

Can we just get a list of Free Agents and start a single thread discussing them. Over in the General Football talk section of course.

 

His psycho character has been entertaining to watch at times. But from a distance...

Cushing, Lee, Matthews, Kuechly Burfict.
Pittsburgh, Once a Linebacker goldmine, can become a Linebacker retirement destination.

 

Just curious. If we aren't going to sign anyone, who starts at inside linebacker? Spence?..... A draft pick? You guys better hope we sign a veteran linebacker this off season. Think of how bad the defense was last year, and then imagine it WORSE. It could happen if we don't bring in some guys who can play.

I'm not advocating Cushing. I'm just sayin.

 

Bring back Timmons. I know he is old but can still run circles around Spence.

 

Spence isn't even signed for next season, that's why they have a draft to fill the spot of ILB.

 

I am all for bringing back Timmons. He never should have been let go in the first place.

 

Timmons was a cap casualty plain and simple, he was do huge money for somewhat less production.

 

And everybody still wants to restructure all types of contracts, we will be in cap hell again. Dead money doesn't build rosters.

 

Um no he wasn't he was a player who lost not one step but two which we all saw in the playoff game vs the Cheats. He did not fit what our team was doing with the LB's since we need them to cover, so we did not re sign him.

 

Timmons was 3rd in tackles at miami in 2017 with 84 combined...........

 

How was his pass coverage cause that is where his problem here was, nobody questioned his tackling he was a machine there.

 

The Steelers need a ILB who can be a three down LB.

 

Last time I checked Timmons is still better in coverage than LJ Fort or Sean Spence. He is a hell of a lot better in coverage than Vince Williams too. It's about having depth. Any way you slice it we were a better team with both Shazier and Timmons in the lineup. It's not like Miami broke the bank for him. If LT is on the field at the end of the season it's a whole different defense. Even if he lost a step he's 10 steps better than what we got.
