If it looks like a catch, smells like a catch, it is a ****ing catch... The NFL needs to apply some common sense here.

Both plays should have had the same outcome although while appearing to be the same play, they were quite different close up. If JJ had just crabbed it into the end zone instead of diving - it might have been the Steelers losing to the Eagles today instead of the Buffalo Patriots.

I’m just looking for consistency in what is a catch and what isn’t!I may not agree with what the league considers a catch but at least be more consistent in similar type receptions or incompletions! For one it’s a joke that the N.F.L doesn’t have full time referees like other professional sports leagues do! It’s not like the league doesn’t have the money to do so!I don’t believe for one moment that it’s a rigged game!Just be more consistent in the calls as we shouldn’t have the referees deciding the outcome of games!

Yeah, as I said before it really was a case of Jesse sliding down first without being touched versus Etta getting 3 steps in and diving on the low tackle attempt.

Not Jesse’s fault as he was just trying to make sure he shielded that ball and made a clean catch. Had he been standing straight up the DB might have gotten a hand on the ball or his arm.

It was determined, rightfully so, that Ertz made a foot ball move as he took several steps before diving for the goal line. I say JJ made a football move by diving into the endzone. I think the steps should be irrelevant, but probably easier to quantify and less judgment required

Ertz maybe made a step or two more than James did but he was a little further from the goal line. Both should be touchdowns. I think the NFL said if we reverse this in the Super Bowl, it's going to alienate our fan base, and they are going to quit watching.

But, had to make you sick as a Steelers fan as it was very similar to the James catch.

I think it also proved that maybe Harrison should of had some more playing time. He was by far and away the Patriots best pass rusher last night.
Would of been nice to of had Harrison against the Jags when we could get zero pass rush going.

If it crosses the plain, it's a TD period. That's how simple it can be...

Yeah, Ertz catch wasnt as close as I thought it was last night after watching ESPN this morning. He was clearly a runner so didnt matter after the ball came out when he crossed the line.

They just need to change that surviving the ground rule. Ground cant cause a fumble so why should it determine a catch. If you have possession of the ball which James absolutely did before the ground jars it loose. Its a catch.

Agreed...even more so when crossing the goal line is involved.

Ertz had 3 feet down plus his hands with the ball..... James had two feet down, a knee, a hip and elbow, both were catches.

It's good that Riveron went back and read the rule book, because it only refers to surviving the first contact with ground (not surviving the ground). Too bad he didn't make the correct call weeks ago, we might have been playing in the game instead.
