Butler deserves more time

It's really simple. We have/had much better players than the Jags or Pats on the defense but what we don't have are coaches that can or are willing to make game time adjustments. What we also lack is discipline and a focus on the fundamentals which wasn't just a problem that cropped up this year - it's been the "standard" for a while now.

 

The jaguars defense was leaps and bounds better than the Steelers this year. It’s not debatable.

Jags had 6 players in the pro bowl and we had 2. One was legitimate selection the other was an alternate.

 

Better position players for sure, more talent? Yep... better coached no doubt. Suffered the same result.

Pats have no real mentionables on D, but seem to be coached well enough to make a difference. Blows my mind... They continue to be the cream of the crop with un drafted/cast offs year in year out. Great coaching and discipline and a lot of detail being paid attention too. Sure they get inopportune help here and there that cannot be denied, but the same old same is really getting old.

 

Porter and Lake don't deserve more time, the young talent on defense isn't progressing.

 

Because we got worse instead of even better after the start of the season. If we had played the way we started all the way through we'd be headed to the Super Bowl right now. That's on the coaches.

 

This really is there "prove it" season if anything for both. If much of the same happens, more than likely either or both will be gone next season.

 

They played Jacksonville and Chicago to start the early part of the season, where was the defense then?
