I thought he was going to feel a little bit of pressure this year but it is now official. Ben came out and made a public statement about the loss not being Tomlin's fault. Ben has been critical of Tomlin but when the franchise QB makes that kind of statement it means something.

Of course I'm probably just making too much out of a positive statement made by the franchise QB on behalf of his HC, but I found that odd since most think Tomlin has nothing to worry about. And since he has nothing to worry about then why does the QB come out and make that statement just out of the blue?

I have a funny feeling if next season looks remotely like this one in terms of discipline problems and losing focus it may mean trouble for Tomlin. I know I'm reading into things too much but I really think with all the talk about Tomlin I think he isn't very comfortable, where there is smoke there is fire, or so the saying goes.

Regardless of whether Tomlin is or isn't in trouble, I'd say you probably are.

Ben's statement wasn't out of the blue. It was following a (largely, if not totally) unexpected loss to the Jaguars. It's not unheard of for a QB to comment on a play off loss. I'm also not sure that "most" think Tomlin has nothing to worry about. There have been plenty of media discussion about it.

So like I say, maybe his seat is getting warm, but I doubt this is an 'official' indicator.

Something I noticed that flew under the radar and got little press and even less explanation......Mike Munchak turned down a second interview with the Cardinals. Strange. Could someone have maybe gotten in his ear and said "just sit tight as our line coach because we may need a head coach sooner rather than later?"

It makes no sense to at least not go on a second interview for a job that is two levels ahead of your current spot, unless something else was at work.

The Cards job means working for Bidwell. I can see why some coaches would balk.

It was covered and Munchak released a statement describing his reasoning.

Ha, I said the same thing in another post almost verbatim.

He said it was for family reasons, not the right time. Convenient excuse?

Sounds like it....IMO is SB or bust next year for Tomlin and I'm almost at the point that if Ben wasn't coming back I'd really be all for blowing it up and starting over. I'm not sold on Munch as our HC of the future but I would be ok with him until Ben hangs them up. I don't trust either Tomlin or Munch with a new QB(draft)...
I'm sorry but I don't feel either is a X and O guy and it's becoming more and more important in the league to have a creative mind on O.

Something I was thinking about the other day.....I don't know why I thought of this but I'm very anxious to see how Scott Frost does going back to Nebraska and all the positives that come from going to a big time program instead of UCF. What he was able to do there was awesome and I'm very curious to see if he can bring Nebraska back from the dead. He can be the next up and coming star of the coaching ranks and just be hitting his prime when it's time for us to reload.....

The Rooneys are brainwashed to believe they must keep a coach forever so I doubt his seat is warm.

I don't think Tomlin has to win a SB to keep his job but the distractions could cost him his job if they don't stop.

I'm not a fan of college coaches, I definitely want to see Munch get a shot if they let Tomlin go.

Definitely don't think they need to blow anything up, especially offense.

Pretty sure he's done. He's repeatedly said how happy he is with his life after coaching. His name doesn't even come up anymore. Normally, guys will at least have their agent throw their hat into the ring to try to drum up interest and gauge demand.

It'd be nice to have him come back and whip this talented, but undisciplined team into shape.

I read somewhere that Haley not coming back had something to do with his decision to stay. It said Randy was also glad to see him go. People hate the guy.

I'm not saying he has to win but we gotta get there....if we go through the season relatively healthy it's the next logical step. We are all upset I assume at the outcome this year and all the nonsense that took place all season. With the talent we have there should be only two obstacles in our way and we know who they are. It will be overdue to get by one or both of them if we have to....There's really no excuses left that's why I say a SB appearance is a must....if not let Munch take over until Ben retires ,but after that I would want a new NFL age thinker to take over for a franchise that holds on to coaches like I do my iced coffee in the morning...:smiley1:. As far as blowing it up I mean the entire coaching staff.....

I laughed when Colin Cowherd said he had sources that Ben was trying to get Tomlin fired, those national guys are full of crap.

Ben needs to keep some things in house, he threw Haley under the bus often. Guys like Cowherd hear ben with his passive aggressive crap then assume he's trying to get the coach fired.

Yeah and he tried to be cryptic with it but every one sees right through it Ben. It was obvious with Haley but he also threw a couple shots at tomlin.
