Dave Rayner(K) & Brandon Johnson(LB) visit

Steelers hosting veteran free agent visits today...

I don't know if this has been on here or not, but Adam schefter from espn just tweeted that the Steelers are hosting a visit from former Bengals LB Brandon Johnson, and also veteran kicker Dave Rayner....Not big news but figured i'd share it

Not sure about Rayner, his numbers (55/90 72.2%) are actually worse than Suisham's (122/153 79.7%)

Any UDFA kickers out there?

 

Former Browns LB Matt Roth also in for a visit today per Adam Schefter

 

I hope they sign both Lb' s Johnson in the middle...Roth outside...I like it

If either sign...and if either (or any other FA LB) make the final team...does they mean they keep 1 extra LB? Or do they cut someone from the group who right now is kinda penciled in as the LB corps (Harrison, Timmons, Woodley, Spence, Worilds, Sly, Foote, Carter)? I know everyone would say cut Foote...but I just dont see it...unless he is completely blown away by someone in camp.

Rayner would be interesting to see just to add competition at camp

Rayner isn't an upgrade over Suisham... he might be worse.

Rayner was bad in Buffalo last year. I live here, and watch usually both games (Steelers & Bills) and Rayner was pretty awful. I want an upgrade over Suisam, and Rayner is not the answer.

 

i don't know wery well brandon jhonson ,do you think is btter than foote?

 

I don't know if he is better than Foote...but I would say he is better than Sly.

gp, i see several spots that we may have to cut some good players at. we have more talent then spots right now. i'd love to have an expanded roster this year, but..... gonna be some tough decisions to make for this staff.

 

I think you will see that Sly will improve tons this year. He has good instincts and a nose for the ball. I think he is more talented than Foote by a long way, Foote just has a lot of experience.

I think Sly will show a lot of improvement (we didi not really see him that much in games at the LB position, mostly ST).

 

He better show a lot of improvement or he won't make the roster. The reason we did not see him in games at LB IMO is because he looked average at best in the preseason facing 3rd stringers

I just like him to be great I know sounds foolish but we have been getting guys lately than arn't all that great at LB ... outside the Timmons/Woodley steller draft who have we picked up thats been better than Average ?

 

Coach Butler has said himself that Sly is a good/smart player...and last year he was greatly hurt by the lockout (all the young guys were)...and he even went as far as to say as of now he is the heir apparent to Farriors spot. Sly isnt going anywhere...sorry.

We will see.....based off his play and the fact that the Steelers are bringing in LB's tell me all I need to know about his need to have a solid camp to stick.

Timmons, Foote, and Spence....all are basically locks....we can all agree on that right now correct? That leaves one spot inside...maybe two if they keep an extra LB.

I would be happy with (although it seems doubtful the Steelers sign two LB's)
