Joey Porter and Carnell Lake are evidence enough that former players don't necessarily make good coaches.

Don't know about his coaching skills, but he makes a damn fine snack cake.

I can't recall the WR group being an issue. Did our WR coach leave for somewhere else or did MT hand out the wrong pink slip?

Porter, big O, and lakes ... never had the leadership skills and coaching abilities of rod woodson, hines ward, or kevin greene. They made a mistake in choosing the previous three and we fans have to suffer because they wont take a chance on the latter three. This is the same team that wouldnt give mean joe greene a chance at defensive coach...wow

Doesnt automatically mean Ward wouldnt be good.

And Lake has done good things. Cockrell played very well for us. Blake before being moved to a starter, hes not a starter and Brice McCain. Its getting the most out of guys like that which is coaching. I always felt Lake was a victim of our poor scouting. Burns and Davis should be playing better given where they were drafted regardless of coaching.

Here's a thought, don't hire any of cowhers good players as coaches ... so, they can't say...tomlin first won superbowls with Cowher players and now, he's winning with them again, but only on the coaching staff ... lmbo!

Pro Football Focus decided to hand out awards for position coaches for the first time this season, and the Arizona Cardinals had a winner – wide receivers coach Darryl Drake, a former Western Kentucky standout.

Drake coached Larry Fitzgerald through his transition to inside receiver, Smokey Brown’s transition to the NFL, and Michael Floyd’s evolution to consistent downfield threat this season.

"Drake may have had a superior set of talent to work with, but he squeezed the best out of every one of his players," PFF wrote on its website. "All six receivers seeing playing time graded positively this season, and all but one improved over the previous year. And it wasn’t just their receiving prowess that shined – they did a more than competent job blocking for the run, finishing the year as our second-highest graded unit in that regard."

Drake starred as a wide receiver for WKU in 1975 and during the 1977-78 seasons. He helped the Hilltoppers to an 8-2 record and the Ohio Valley Conference championship as a senior and was a member of their 11-2 OVC championship squad that played in the NCAA Division II championship game in 1975.

Drake played wide receiver for three professional teams, the Washington Redskins in 1979, the Ottawa Rough Riders in 1981, and the Cincinnati Bengals in 1983.

So why would the Cards get rid of him? Did they clean house with the entire coaching staff once Arians "retired"?

The Cards are not a good place to be right now, they dont have a head coach, palmer retired and they dont have a single QB under contract, fitzgerald probably wont return, so assistants are looking for a better team to latch on too, Drake is a great receiver coach so instead of waiting around in a cloud of uncertainty to land on a team with a good receiver group drake made a wise choice........

The scary part is looking at his resume..... Yes he coached Ward at Georgia, Yes he coached Fitz (after Fitz was already a stud)..... but Chicago from 2003-2013??? Name me 1 WR from Chicago during his tenure that had over 1,000 yards in a season.

What QB's were out there in Chicago though? ... they did mention he coached Brandon Marshall as well. Not sure if he should get credit for that or not?

Think Bernard Berrian had one in 07 or 08.

Brandon Marshall has back to back 1000 yard seasons 2012 and 2013.

    Alshon Jeffrey had good numbers.

Johnny Knox and Musin Muhammad had fairly good stretches, not sure if they reached 1000.

Slim pickings but there are guys there...
