    ESPN Story
Steelers had a draft-day trade in place with the New York Jets to move up to No. 16, one spot ahead of the Bengals, and take DeCastro.

i still can't believe what we were able to get in the draft , basically we got the same talents as we were picking ten spot before

I still can't quite believe it either. It's like hitting the draft day lottery. :dancing:

Clearly the Steelers paid the Seahawks off to bungle their pick. ;)

makes you wonder how many teams trade when they dont need to? could still get the player you want by just staying put

You really only make a trade if you're pretty sure that you won't be able to get the person you want. In the Jets case, with two people on the board, they could wait for one to go off the board, then try to trade up to take the one they wanted. They might have gotten a 3rd and 4th from us, then only needed to useour fourth to move up to get the person they wanted.
I started getting really happy at 18, when the Bungles passed on DeCastro. I saw DeCastro, Reiff, Hightower, and Glenn on the board (although I guess I should have looked at Zietler instead of Glenn) and knew that we were going to get a quality player at a position of need. I would think at that point trading up became unneccessary.

No question about it - early indications are the stars fell into alignment for us on draft day.

In all fairness, the Bungles officially only have a 3 person scouting department.......................and 2 of them were propbably assigned baby sitting duty that weekend.

Just as I suspected, A talent like Decastro does not come
along to often. If you want to keep up with Joneses you have
to make or be ready(jets)to pull the trigger sometimes. This time the Steelers
waited. Just like 3 years ago I wanted to pull the trigger on SUH, again a talent
like this does not come around to often.Obviously this would have been harder because
    of the old CBA.
