I say he signs for the tender amount for 2012 and we see if he can answer the questions of his production drop off by playing a complete season at the level he wants to get paid at. Then he is either grounded and agrees to stay a Steeler for what he is worth or he rides the ego train out of here to some town that is willing to pay too much.

I say that is pretty on par with my thinking regarding the Wallace situation

the worst thing they could do is offer him an inflated contract ( i'm not even talking about one like fitz) , but a large one non the less, and brown outplays him. what will brown want then? i think the steelers are really working on two contracts right now instead of just one for wallace, in the sense, they would like to keep them both for a resonable rate. if they pay one the other will want the same or more a year later. tough spot right now.

People, Mike Wallace wants the going rate for WR of his skill level,
What did the Bills pay Stevie Smith or the Eagles pay Desean Jackson,
my guess is in the 5/35 range. This is what his agent and Mike Wallace think he is worth.
The Steelers will let him play out his option and get nothing for him and sign Antonio Brown
    to a long term contract.

I think this may well be what happens. We can insult Wallace all we like, but the real issue here is the contracts being offered all around the league. And however much people might think Wallace overrates himself, he is better than Stevie Smith, period.

Damn it, I told myself I'd stay out of Wallace threads...

I disagree that 5/35 is what Wallace and his agent think he's worth. If that was the case, I think we'd already have a deal. It appears that he and his agent think he's worth a lot more than that, somewhere in the 6/60 range and that will most certainly hinder the negotiations.

I thought that after the draft and the draftees were signe dthen they would work out something with wallace but now im seeing players being brought in and am saying to myself this can't look good for negotiations.

I imagine the FAs being brought in won't impact too much on the Wallace negotiations. Most of them won't even get a sniff of the final squad. It's all just part of the off-season procedures.
