    Maybe a little unorthodox, but....

Last game, the coaches seemed to think we would throw Jags off guard by trying to attack their strengths...their passing D.

Ended up being a very moronic plan: end result, 2 pic sixes and FIVE interceptions. Very stupid plan.

This time, literally don't throw to Ramsey's or Bouye's direction, unless on a deep fly route to Bryant (if thrown far enough, CBs shouldn't pick it). Instead of trying to prove you are so tricky in attacking their strength, get a brain and avoid it.

Put AB in the slot. I don't know if one of the 2 CBs would follow him, but give it a try and see.

Run, run, run Bell and Ridley. Even if it doesn't work initially do not give up on the run. The Jags are a very good D, but not all that big. They can be worn out. If they keep running it, their D will wilt. If you barely run, they will not.

Run counters, allowing Pouncy and DD to pave the way.

When they do throw, toss it to the middle to JJ, JuJu, McDonald and Bell. Keep doing it.

On D, spy on Bortles, stuff the rush. Make Bortles beat us by throwing.

Stack the box and make Bortles beat ya. I don't think they can stop our offense if Ben doesn't turn it over.

I think the way to go for us on offense against just about anybody is to throw on 1st down. Make it look like a run, but pass it. On defense, do what Bills did. Sell out against the run and see if Bortles can beat us with his arm.

Get Bell going early in the jumbo package with Hubbard and Nix leading the way. Don't force the ball to AB, spread the ball around to JuJu and McDonald. Stack the box to stop the Jags running game.

You realize that the pass plays themselves were not bad calls and that some of the interceptions had less to do with the talent level of the secondary and more to do with Ben making a bad throw or the ball getting tipped right? He puts a high jump ball that bounces off AB's hands and its a tip drill with three Jags around looking for a gift. DL gets a hand on the ball at the line and it flutters right to the LB I believe. Ramsey gets his hand inside of Mac and pulls it away. They really didn't have an answer for what Pittsburgh was doing and without the two pick 6's they were fighting that whole game. Gibson trips and looking at it again he clearly tries to trip Juju gets a gift when Ben throws where Juju should be. He gets another during garbage time when Ben is heaving bricks 40 yards down field in an attempt to make it look like a game.

They were spreading them out using that 3WR 1TE 1RB package in order to force them to take a safety out of the box and drop the LB's into coverage. That freed up space for Bell to work. I hate to say this but they need to go full on Patriots mode and force the Jags to choose. Last week they walked Bouye down into the box in run support to stop Shady. They do that this week spread them out and have everyone get some slant routes, they back off to cover then you hit them with Bell until they come back in and try to stop him then spread it out again and hit seams, dumpoffs quick hitters, Heath miller specials. You make them choose their poison.

Curious: what do you think will be their (Jax's) gameplan?

Gameplanning consists, also, about thinking what the other team will do, what are they trying to take away/ force you to play, and what are they fearing the most...

They'll play to their strengths also. Their game plan should be to take away Bell and force a lot of 3rd and longs. Put 8 in the box and see if Ben has a short memory. They're hoping AB needs one more week and even so I'm sure they're still counting on a rust factor with the offense as a whole.

As for Offense...its going to come down to field position. They're going to need to flip the field through their defense. Play it safe with the run and probably use up clock to keep the Steelers offense off the field. They really only need Bortles to make 2 or three key throws in a close game. That's all he's good for as far as I'm concerned. This could be Tim Tebow all over again but I doubt it. I don't see how Blake Bortles gets two wins over the Steelers.

It's all about starting fast. Test their run defense with Bell on 1st down on the game's early drives.

After first down runs you must pay attention to down and distance. If Bell gains 4 on first down, run him again to see what you can get. If he's stuffed on 2nd for no gain, throw short for the first on 3rd and short.

Like I said, in the early drives, monitor Bells down and distance on first, then mix the early drives with short passes on occasional first and sometimes 2nd down to neautralize their pass rush and throw them off on pass and run plays in mixing up the downs.

Down and distance is the focal point of your playcalling. Don't run the ball on 2nd and 11 after running on 1st down. If you get stuffed again and are put at 3rd and long, they know you are passing and sets up run, run, pass punt.

If you pass on 1st and get nothing, don't throw again on 2nd and 10. The key is getting manageable down and distance. Run it and see if you can set up manageable 3rd down yardage. You may get stuffed running on 2nd and 10, but the odds are you will have to pass on 3rd down anyway.

The early drives of the game are all about being patient. You mix the run with the short passing game to stay in manageable 3rd downs. Execute with patience taking what they give you and extend the drives and finish them with TD's.

If they can succesfully do this in the first 2 drives with 14 points and the defense holds them from 0-3 points, I would repeat it on the 3rd offensive drive. I'm talking 3 - 5 to 7 minute drives building a 21-0 or 21-3 lead.

You don't want to open the game up by running the ball too much. You want to build a double digit lead on them with patient 5-7 minute drives forcing Bortles to play catch up.

You don't want to use too much clock early by running and have a 10-3 or 10-6 type of halftime lead. If their first 3 drives are succesful building a double digit lead in the first half, you can then start running Bell more regularly and open up the passing game with intermediate routes and occassional deep throws to put them away.

All I ask of the defense is when Jacksonville is in a third and long DON'T let Bortells run for a first down!

On offense we have to take advantage of the opening just behind the LB's, this is where I think Vace will become so important. We have more weapons on offense that they have good D players, they can't cover AB, MB, Juju, Bell, Vance and JJ. someone is gonna be open and if they lock down AB - MB & Juju that leave Vance, JJ and Bell to match up vs the LB and I will take that all day. We will struggle to run up the middle so we need to set up the run with the pass and string out the run around the tackles. No huddle, no huddle, no huddle.....wear these guys down and tire them out. Short quick passing and you take the strength the Jagoffs have and turn it into just another D.

Oh defense you have to sell out on the run, I really feel this is a perfect game to start Dirty Red. We all saw how bad Bortles is and he misses wide open guys. With that said stack the box and let or DB's man up. Bortles can't beat eggs he most certainly not gonna burn us.

Follow this and this game is way over at half. These guys have a good D but we have a better O. On our worst defensive day we are better than Bortles.

You kinda lost me when you start calling the coaches moronic.
Anyway I'd like to see a lot of play action. I'm not talking bombs away play action, just some intermediate stuff. Get Bell going early with runs/passes to him.

What I don't want to see is a bunch of series with runs on first and second down for little or no gain the third and long. Now if we're getting big chunks of yardage running then by all means stick with it, but if we're not don't continue to do the same thing. We can't have a bunch of three and outs.

The best way to run is right at them. Their LBs are undersized and use their speed to make up ground underneath and to the outside,so our best bet is up the middle or off tackle. I like the deep seams by McDonald but well behind the LBs and Bell and any of our WRs shallow crosses on the run to negate some of their speed. What scares me is their length on the DL and the way they get their hands up in the passing lanes like we were victims of last time . Most of our throws towards the middle need to be well past the LOS and our crossers hit near the hashes not directly in the middle of the field.
The OL protecting Ben and his patience when having time will be major if we are going to be successful throwing. They will try to play our WRs tight and the early windows probably won't be open but if Ben is patient and moves guys around with his eyes we can hit some big plays

Offense-Game plan should be run Bell early and often, set up play action, run some screens to Bell. Short routes.
If Bell doesn't run the rock 25-30 times something is wrong. Maybe even 5-7 Ridely runs.
But Ben is good enough if the Jags want to stack 8-9 in the box and try to stop Bell, make them pay deep.
Take care of Ben when he throws, and take care of the ball. The Jags live on sacks and turnovers.

    Defense- Make Bortles beat you.

Special Teams- Do something special, and don't do anything that isn't special

Last game the run was going nowhere. The Jags were selling out to stop it and by and large Ben was making them pay through the air. In the first half he was 20-152, of which 6 went to Bell for 32 yards or about 5.2 per catch, much better than his ypc numbers of 9-29. In fact if you take away two big runs of 10 and 13 yards, he had 7 carries for 6 yards. In fact the only thing keeping the Steelers out of third and longs was the passing game. At the end the first half they were unable to score from the 2 yard line and had to settle for a field goal. Had they scored they would have taken a 16 to 7 lead and the complexion of the game would have changed significantly.
In the second half they used the pass to set up the run, going 12 -42 before the first pick six. During that span the running game was 3 for 21, for 7 yards per carry, so obviously it was working. However, once the two pick sixes went on the board the Steelers had no choice but to abandon the run game and try to put points on the board to catch up.

The problem in the last game wasn't the play calling or game plan, it was the execution. Specifically Hubbard getting abused, and Ben being less than accurate. Throw in a couple of tipped balls and some bad luck (Juju tripping on one int) and it was a perfect storm of bad results in the second half that led to the eventual outcome. The Steelers were able to move the ball through the air. Had they executed better around the goal line and in protection the game probably would have finished in their favour.

So, what would you call coaches who play call right into a team's extreme strength? Super smart?

Ramsey couldn't cover Brown, the couldn't stop Juju without tripping him, they weren't shutting down Bryant and James was even getting free. The only clear pick the had was Jalen Ramsey getting just enough of the ball to pull it away from Vance McDonald. The play calls weren't the problem, the extreme strength wasn't the problem it was execution. Go back and watch the game the only play calls that were stupid were the same ones that always are such as bubble screens to Bryant. This team isn't scared of Ramsey or Bouye, they will respect them but they are going to attack.
