I say we should welcome him with open arms. I didn't want to draft him because of his off the field issues.

As a football player he has the skillset we ( and Ben ) need. But as a person we just needed to move on to other prospects.

It seems this was the case until the person, Mike Adams, did what was right to be placed back on our board just for consideration and it seems everything has worked out for a reason.

Every single one of us has made bad choices and done things we shouldn't have, some worst than others, but with repentence comes forgiveness and it seems this is where we are with our new LT-Mike Adams...

I support you Mike, Now makes us proud and lets get that next RING/Trophy!!!!!

    Go Steelers!!!!!

    Well said.

I really hope he can stay clean. I do not doubt his intentions, but in life...it is very easy to have a lapse in judgement and fall back on old ways. Hopefully he can maintain the mind set that its just not worth and stay away from the pot.

Actions speak louder than words. He is coming into a good locker room with some players with good moral fiber. I'm in his corner just go get it done and live by whatever you said to the Steelers brass.

I know a lot of people who were irresponsible and impulsive as college aged kids who subsequently matured and became responsible, law abiding citizens after their college years. Just how quickly they made the transition varied, but it happens all the time. He's had some lapses in judgment, but I think there's a good chance that the "tough love" that he will get in our locker room will help him mature in time to have a solid career. If not, we'll get a 5th rounder from the Jets for him in a couple of years.

Agreed, we all did stupid things as youngsters. Then again none of us were going to be for sure 1st round picks in the NFL draft either, he had a huge lapse in judgement and should have known better.

I was worried about Adams becoming another Santonio Holmes (in regard to off the field activity), but after having read some interviews with different people in the Steelers organization who have said they have no worries about him, I have felt much better about him and look for this guy to make an impact.

I havent worried about him period...yes he and some other OSUer's were dumb and sold/traded some of their OSU items for tattoo's/etc...nothing serious, but dumb. And he smoked some at some point before the combine and got busted...big deal...I'm not worried about that. I havent heard/read anything where he's been a chronic user for years or some crap (like Holmes turned out to be). So I'm not worried one bit about Adams the person...I think he'll be just fine...and he's learned or is learning from those couple little mistakes. Now he just needs to kick some ass on the field and we'll be good to go.

I hope he comes in and lights up OTAs and training camp. I hope he forces Kugler's hand into starting him. If he truely has First Round talent and has been humbled by his pre-combine stupidity, he sure has the motivation to show the coaches that they were correct in drafting him. I'm not at all sold on the fact that Colon will come off of two season ending injuries and just reinsert himself into the starting lineup. I think his best shot at starting will be if he or the coaches decide to move him. Left guard is our biggest spot for competition in the preseason IMO.

While the offense is minor in nature he knew that he was going to be tested and still he partook in potentially ruining his career. I think knowing millions of dollars and a future in the NFL was on the line he should have used better judgement. That said I am glad we gave him a chance and I hope he uses the chance to help the Steelers win another championship; as well as provide a good life for himself.

Welcome Mike Adams and good luck!!!!

Perhaps Adams used good judgement smoking that weed before the combine?? He has said the Steelers were the only team he wanted to play for... Maybe his little 'mistake' was to help him fall out of the first round and into our laps in the second?

    :o Conspiracy theory over. :hello:

I am good with them taking him at his word and giving him every opportunity to succeed. Just don't appoint Ben as his mentor please.

Every single one of us if given the chance to play for the Steelers would try our asses off. He's love us since he was born, at least that what I think I read somewhere. I have no doubt he would try his hardest playing for a team he loves.

    I appreciate every body's opinion,being a respectable citizen is
the best choice and Rooney's will love him for that. My problem
is his heart/mind in the game? Can he make the transition from college
to the pros? Is his work ethic good? I guess only time will tell.Like Steel Elvis
appropriatley stated if it doesn't work out, will give him away to the Jets for a fifth rounder.
