Vance seems to be more athletic then Jesse. Faster, better route runner and actually can make people miss. No disrespect to Jesse but he seems to get the ball for the most part when the d forgets about him or when the d is zone. He does have some success running up the seam however.

Vance though can actually lose a lb in coverage. Also can make people miss.

However, it seems that he has a good quarter or half and then you do not hear his name again.

I think he will be good for a long time.

He's a big upgrade in the run game too. Better blocker than Jesse or X

I think Vance has the physical tools to be a top 10 NFL TE. Injuries and drops have derailed him to date. As long as he stays healthy and keeps on catching passes thrown his way, I think he should be seeing several targets per game.

McDonald is clearly better than James. Both have the occasional drop, though that has been a larger issue for McDonald in his career. McDonald is by far the superior blocker. He is also far more athletic. He is fluid in his movements, with a deeper route tree and a better ability to run after the catch and make difficult catches.

James has been far more durable to this point in his career. Whenever McDonald is healthy, which isn't often enough, he's the starter and the better player and it isn't close.

I find the Heath cheers for James funny, especially because McDonald has a lot more in common with Miller than James.

James was on the team with Heath, McDonald was not. It's funnier that way.

Also, I think Heath had more in common with the type of TE that they are with James than McDonald. McDonald is more of a move TE that can block well.

I definitely agree. Drops and injuries a legit issue with him, but he's SUPER talented.

I think he will be the X-factor in the playoffs if he can stay on the field.

People seem to forget that Miller could do a little bit of everything. He didn't have great speed, but he was able to go up the seam and make plays in a way James can't.

Of course, there is room for both. James is fine as a No. 2 tight end. He's just not a guy you want as your starter.

James is one of those guys you like to keep around. He's not the most talented or a great athlete, but he works hard and you never question his heart or effort.

IMO VM is the key to a Super Bowl run. If they would get him 4 or 5 targets, and he cashes those in, this offense can not be stopped.

I agree, I think he is an integral part of making the offense unstoppable, not only with his receiving, but with his blocking as well.

Glass Joe.png Let's hope Glass McDonald can stay on the field. He is a force when not injured.

James is open just as much as Heath was. Heath did have better feet and more functional strength. Can't fault the Steelers for thinking James would round into that type of player as he came out early and was very raw when they grabbed him. (I'm sure they didn't expect another Miller)

Rewatching the highlights of the Ravens game I don't know how anyone can be down on Mac or Jesse after watching them time and time again find the soft spot in the Ravens zone just like Ray Lewis used to complain about and seeing Ben hit them for those nice medium gains.
