Well he made it through Friday. Let's see what Saturday brings. I still say they don't deal to the Steelers. He knows too much. He would never BURN the Clowns, because he wouldn't play, but he would know way too much about the already predictable offense.

Something tells me he doesn't know anything we haven't already seen :hehehe: I agree with some of the other posters here. With the talent we'd have around him I think he'd be a very good option at back-up.

Must be me, I don't even like him as a back option.

Word now is that the Browns intend to keep him and let him "compete" for the starting job with Weeden - possibly earning a back-up role there. I'm sure THAT'S going to work out well for all involved.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That team is the biggest joke in pro sports!

You'll probably want to punch me in the eye :blackeye: but I'd actually enjoy if they got good enough so we could have a rivalry again. Once upon a time it was a great one. I'm going to go run for cover now. :tomato:

I'd rather see the Browns, maybe you are too young for it but it was a classic rivalry. Nuke the Rats, I hate them and let the Bungles keep operating a prison camp.

I'd take as a backup over who we currently have on the roster. He's got some talent and is a lot younger than lefty & batch. If we can get him for a 5 or 6th rounder, I'd pull the trigger.

IF I lived anywhere but Cleveland, I would agree with you. I remember the FIERCE rivalry of the 70's and 80's. Now that I live in NE Ohio, I just like being able to laugh at these bumbling fools. You should hear sports talk radio in Cleveland these past couple of days! You would think the Clowns had the best draft of the century and that their additions will bring them playoffs this year and Super Bowls over the next 10 or so (that's how long they're claiming Weeden's career will last).

I wouldn't be surprised if the Browns try to pull what they did with Frye/Quinn back in '07.

They stated that Frye would be their starter, but then traded him after one game. I fully believe that when they did this back then, they fully knew that they were going to trade Charlie Frye and make Brady Quinn the starter, but only named Frye the starter so that they could get more for him in a trade since they'd be trading a "starter" rather than a backup.

I could see them doing that again with McCoy and Weeden. Tell everyone that McCoy is the starter knowing full well that he really isn't, and then trade him as a "starter" to try to get more for him.

Guys... trades don't happen within your own division. That's like rule #1 of making at trade.

The problem with this theory is that there isn't an owner or GM that will believe it. They've seen the film on McCoy. No one with any authority is going to trade for him as a "starter" and then slap their head and say, "What was I thinking??!!!"

I agree, I don't think anyone would be fooled into thinking he has more talent. It just wouldn't surprise me to see the Browns try it to see if they can get a little more for him by labeling him as a starter.

Browns... They came...They saw....they wasted another draft pick. How did this organization make it back?

IDK, there were some pretty rough times in the '80's and '90's when the brownie fans thought they had good teams. Living 1hr south of cleveland and having to hear those clown fans in my ear all those times makes the times we are enjoying now that much better. I absolutely LOVE watching them fall apart every season and hearing their fans cry. It's pretty much payback for me. :hehehe:

There's nothing like Cleveland sports talk radio from Sunday around 4:30 until Monday about 9:00 P.M. It's HILARIOUS! After I watch my Steelers win, I love to turn on any sports station in Cleveland and just listen to the callers and laugh! It's like they can't BELIEVE they lost - badly. Every week it's something different. Now they're talking about KEEPING McCoy! Oh what entertainment THAT will be next season as they lose game after game with Weewee.

Technically, the Ravens are the Browns team that we had a rvialry with. The current Browns team is an expansion team.

Wow. Lots of points to respond to, and I still haven`t figured out how to quote multiple posters from earlier in the thread,
without screwing everything up, or making my reply, a big, unreadable, page consuming mess, sooo...
First off, I would be glad to take McCoy as a backup, over what we currently have.
Just based on his first game against us. There was absoluteley no fear in his eyes(or his game), playing against one of the baddest D`s in his first start, and he has always shown good leadership, and professionalism, in the interviews I`ve read, even when there are times, when you KNOW he is unhappy.
I do agree that he is a career back-up, and not starter material, for a team that wants to win championships.
He does seem to have talent, guts, and leadership. Probably not enough physical skills to ever be a premier qb, tho.(IMO)
I also think the clowns are kings at ruining qb`s, and not running a stable organization.
I love laughing at them, and, why not give them a draft pick, they would just waste it, or draft someone who gets hurt the first play of training camp, anyhow... It`s just what happens there... :hehehe:
Which leads me to another point...
I think it is awesome, that our biggest rivals are the Cravens.
They are the original Clowns, anyhow, and their former "Wizard of Ozzie", is now their drafting "guru".
And the last thing I wanted to mention, is that I disagree that we NEVER trade within the division.
I`m to lazy to do the research, and back this up, like I should, so I`m not sure how many players we have in common with the Clowns over the years,
Or, more importantly, if they were actual trades, or just players that were released, then picked up by each other, but I do know there are a lot of ex-Steelers that became Browns, and vice-versa.
The FIRST one that comes to mind is the d-lineman that damn near broke Ben`s ankle, last year.
Forget his name, but he was ours, immediately before signing with them.
Bill Cowher used to be their linebacker, also, and, I believe, Noll, before him.
And i know there are many, many more, I just don`t feel like looking it up.
Matt Bahr(the kicker), I believe played for both. Forget the order?
I`m drawing a blank, right now, but I know there are quite a few players who played for both teams during their careers.
They may not have been actual "trades", though. :towel:

I completely agree with this. In fact, I've been saying this to friends of mine who are Browns fans for years. They've had some pretty good quarterbacks, but they keep ruining them with terrible offensive lines, by putting them in bad situations, and by blaming the quarterback for things that are not their fault. There was a game a few years ago where Derek Anderson had led the offense to around 40+ points, but the defense gave up 50 or so points. Anderson was blamed and benched soon after, even though the defense was clearly the problem.

I know that, but to me, they stopped being that team when they left Cleveland. No dog pound, no rabid fan base (not saying Raven fans aren't passionate but Browns fans are nuts) and different uni's of course. Not to mention the name.
