Listen bro, if you'd stand back and look at your argument in these threads you'd see what I'm talking about. Your blinded by your hatred of Sean Spence and your perceived mishandling of JH.
When you start saving things like "Ryan Shazier went down Harrison should have got more playing time" it's hard to understand.
We're not doing goofy defensive alignments with Watt at inside LB. We may have a wrinkle or two where we do something outside the box during a game but we're not doing this nonsense full time. I'm down with whatever works and I have my own ideas, but the majority of the time we know exactly what the Steelers are going to do.
As far as JH goes. I don't care what they told him about playing time. We're trying to win games. If Tomlin thinks he can help us then he would play him, if not then he didn't.
Harrison was getting paid for his services. He had no cause to do the insubordinate things he did. He had no right to drag the team down with his antics.
If Harrison wanted guaranteed playing time then he should have put that in his contract before he signed it.

Am I the only one who doesn't really care about this one way or the other? Harrison was done on this team. That became pretty apparent as the season went on. He got cut and is someone else's problem now. It doesn't surprise me in the least that Harrison was a jerk in order to help him get released since he's been a jerk his whole career. It is part of what I enjoyed about him. I just don't really care about all the talk. I find that the media and fans make things like this into big stories because it is easier to talk about than actually breaking down things that matter. No matter what your pop psychology take on the effects of this is, you can't be proven wrong one way or the other. It's free reign for people to spout off.

No Bro your wrong, I don't hate SS what you guys see as "hate" I call bad play. I root for anyone who puts on the Black and Gold, however when I come here I like to talk about the good and the bad. Tell me right now honestly are you happy with what you see out of SS? I am not last week the TE tripped and caught the pass and he still couldn't make the darn tackle. I was rooting for him to tackle but after the play there was some "choice" words for him.

As far as keep bringing up Shazier, well look we are using 3 guys to replace him. I am not talking about crazy schemes I am saying Watt is pretty good at covering with all the different looks the team does why could Watt play more coverage say on 3rd downs and JH be in the game? I am no defensive coach (I have stayed in a holiday express once) but I would think with the RS injury it would have opened a spot even more for JH. jmo

I guess this is where you and I are different this guy was a Steeler legend, sack leader a guy who came out of retirement to help this team. He had one of if not the best play in SB history wearing our uniform and if it weren't that play we wouldn't have one of them trophy's. So like the team I love I love the players as well, especially these great ones.

There is so much we don't know about this situation and it all stinks. My feeling is if JH was done then he should have been done week 1 not week 15. jmo here is some interesting reads:

"The door is always left open for anyone that we stop doing business with who is available for business," Tomlin said. "I’ll leave the discussions that James and I had between us."

Tomlin was also asked to clarify why he chose to release Harrison on Saturday.

"We needed a spot for Marcus Gilbert," Tomlin said.

“Pretty surprised," Heyward said about his reaction following Harrison's release. "James is a heck of a teammate. You don’t know what’s going to happen in the future. How this goes, I don’t know. I’m not really a general manager, I can’t answer that.

"James is a heck of a teammate, and you just don’t know when your time is going to be called. You just stay ready and you just keep playing.

"Hopefully we can bring him back in the future."

Well thats a good point but what does that tell you then? He wasnt good enough to even be a backup OR his poor attitude and skipping meetings earned him the pine. You seem to think that what JH did in the past should gain him leniency for bad behavior, it doesn't. Im glad Tomlin put him in his place.

As for moving TJ inside, thats silly, he doesnt play the position, its not Madden football, you cant just change positions on the dime.

And its not just Bud and Pouncey speaking poorly of James, Chick and Mitchel have joined in too.

That's fine then why was he even kept here, should have been gone many weeks ago. And like I posted there are many that are speaking out good things about him, mainly Heyward. Like I said we will never know the whole story..........

    Injury.

And now JH's selfishness has hurt the team by forcing their hand to release him if one should occur.

Spence has improved in every game since his return. He isn't at Shazier's level, but there are very few if any players in the league that have his speed or ability to cover. Moving Watt to ilb weakens us at both ilb and olb. Not only are we weaker in the pass rush, but then we lose his ability to drop into coverage as an Olb. Make no mistake Watt dropping into a zone is a far cry from asking Watt to cover slot wr's, tight ends running down the seam, or running backs coming out of the back field. What you're suggesting is a recipe for epic failure. It would be kind of comical in a truly sad and desperate way. If Ben goes down we should move AB to qb right? It's a drastic comparison, but that's essentially what you're suggesting.

Yeah, I don't know what NY's deal is. We have SS, Fort and Dirty Red, and I don't think Moats has played much if any at ILB since the first game after Shaziers injury. Who are we supposed to play? Spence hasn't come close to being as bad as he's suggesting.

It’s posts like this where I wish I could give multiple ratings. I don’t understand why people think Tomlin would keep Harrison on the bench if he thought he could help them win football games. Maybe down the stretch his actions started to play into why he wasn’t playing but I really don’t think that is the case. If he could help they would ignore it and play him just like Bryant but he simply doesn’t fit. This all falls on Harrison plain and simple.

Well of course SS has gotten better I am pretty sure he couldn't get any worse. As far as not being Shazier your right who is and it is unfair to compare anyone to him. And I am not suggesting moving players around. Our D has many parts heyward and tuitt both play inside as well as a DE. We jump from 3-4 to 4-3 all the time. There is spot where both tj and JH can be on the field.

You most certainly did suggest moving players around. You suggested moving watt to ilb.

I can agree with this as far as getting Watt and Harrison on the field at the same time. I thought one of the packages they could have worked on in the lab was dropping an ILB and getting Watt in there in a pure pass rush situation. Obviously Bud has just the bullrush and Harrison off the edge but have TJ come right beside him would be devestating if timed right.

Is this the only part you disagree with then fine. There is/was room to have tj and JH on the field WITHOUT tj playing inside, better?

No I disagree with pretty much everything you wrote. Harrison deserves a pass? Nope
Without his interception we would have lost? I for one would love to know where you got a working magic 8 ball

    And...
    Bud
    Mitchel
    Chick

Also, Heyward didn't discount anything the others said. He said JH was a good teammate which is vague. Just as JH saying he helped the rookies...in preseason.

Sucks when you find out your hero acted like a dickhead.

Lol yeah I just saw that. So he had 5 tackles 2 sacks and a forced fumble in spot duty. Glad he's old and no good anymore.
