Mentoring? James wasn't even the sharing type! 10 other faster less winded Steelers offered to take a lateral from him on the SB INT TD return and he never even thought of sharing the ball. What a glory hog! ;) (and I'm glad he didn't). Best of luck Sir - I still love ya no matter what. :thumbs up:

Why play football? Because they can make money at it! Yes, they know the risk, and are free to quit if they don't want the injury risk. But, if they are going to take the risk, I don't begrudge them making as much as they can while taking it.

As far as players of previous generations being more loyal than those of today, I very much doubt it. The Stillers of the '70s didn't stay together out of loyalty, the stayed together because they had no option to move elsewhere. My daughters parakeet is extremely loyal, it never leaves us, it would never think of opening the cage door to go elsewhere.

You may be correct and you point is well taken but things were somewhat different back then. Heck, Heinz Ward was basically cut and said he just could not see himself going somewhere else. Get a cat or a second bird and he may think differently, but let’s hope not.

The story is breaking that it is the case that he was being a bad teammate and wanted out. In my opinion, that makes it even a worse decision to release him. They rewarded bad behavior and improved our toughest obstacle to #7 in the process. It wasn't just business like Tomlin said when he lied to reporters and fans at the presser. If it was just business, they would have done what the best business decision was and hold him on the roster out of uniform.

Martavis wanted out too and made it more public. We didn't reward him for that (and the team picking him up).

I don't blame him for wanting to go....... a player of his stature wants to play, simple and plain...
They might as well have made him a coach if they were gonna have him inactive every week

Given Harrison’s opinion of participation trophies...imagine how he’d have felt if (when!) the Steelers handed him a ring after winning the Super Bowl.

I think Pouncey said Harrison asked for his release.

If that's the case, here's what you do, tell him no!

So would you want a disgruntled player on the team that potentially compromise the team by passing game plan info out of spite? If he does not want to be there and you don’t want him, then let him go. Martavisis a young man who needs direction. James is a crusty old player who harbors ill-will.

Yeah the money just wasn't there back then and they had to have Summer jobs to make it up. Normally that would be in the city they played in, because it would be too much to pick up and move the family around.

Take a look at this thread and note how the players wives are talking about salaries. http://thesteelersfans.com/forums/threads/video-of-70s-steelers-prior-to-super-bowl.9974/

And his poor attitude becomes a distraction to the team. The coach, general manager, and owner all have to do what's best for the team. In situations like this it might aggravate members of the fan base, but the best interests of the team always comes first.

Depending on what JH was doing, the Steelers should have suspended him for the remainder of the regular season and made him sit at home. I'm not shocked that his attitude was crappy based on some of the things I read early on, but if it was as bad as some of the players are starting to insinuate, then the Steelers should have made him sit at home rather than release him.

One of the few times we are in agreement if he was being disrespectful in his attitude or going about his business this could really hurt the team building and comraderie they had going on

Then you suspend him. It's not that difficult.

There's no reason to suspend him unless you're interested in playing some tit for tat childish game. He's acting like a brat so we will do the same? Make no mistake suspending him just creates more drama. Harrison would be in front of every microphone whining. He couldn't do what the Steelers needed him to do anymore. So they moved on. They took the high road through all of this while harrison is whining on social media and in interviews.

James career is all but over .And I do agree he was misused this year. But how are you not a team guy.How do you not help out the young guys[tj,bud chick]...in my book that's just what a teammate does..thats what a man does..[SEE AARON SMITH]..what james did has nothing to do with money.[he has been paid well here]it has everything to do with giving this organization a big FU...Being a steeler linebacker should mean something...the history ..the tradition...the case with the Lombardi's...[without *** next to them]...James WAS a great player but time caught up to him.so take your ass to New England.your gonna feel real stupid when your not the one getting a ring this year and we are

Wow...Deebo is a beast. He came out of retirement and put his body through unbelievable workouts. Play the guy until he has no more in the tank.
Just heard pouncey saying that deebo wanted out. Could deebo have pulled a blount on us?!

This is starting to make the most sense to me. But, he would be eating a roster spot, for what that is worth.

    Ditto LeGarrette Blount.

If they suspend him, he still takes up a roster spot, thus they'd still have to cut someone. He knew he had the Steelers by the balls, since Shazier went down, which makes his actions more despicable.
