If you are going to indulge your paranoid delusions here, please at least keep your facts straight. They did not win three times on overturned game-winning touchdowns. One of the calls being discussed was a Patriots' touchdown that was upheld (incorrectly. They actually did get that one wrong.) The touchdown by the Jets being discussed was not a game-winning score. It would have tied the game.

I'm not trying to win anything. If people are going to make accusations then its kinda up to them to prove it. And at the end of the day whether you get me to believe it or not has no effect on anything.

This conspiracy think is nothing new. In the 70s, fans of other teams, especially the Raiders, were convinced that the NFL was against them and favored the Steelers. There are Raider fans and ex-players who maintain, to this day, that the refs only called a TD on the immaculate reception because they feared for their lives if they called it incomplete!
I think the problem is with the rules commitee and the age of the refs. At 60 years old, I can tell you that my vision, while still good, is notwhat it used to be. Even when looking at a replay. A lot of these refs are older than me!
The thing I can't wrap my head around is that for decades, we've been told that the ground can't cause a fumble! But, apparently, on some passing plays it can.
The NFL needs to simplify the rules about what constitutes a catch and, especially, when does a receiver become a runner!

And if you are going to indulge in denial then maybe you should do it here>>https://www.patsfans.com/new-englan...rd/forums/patsfans-com-patriots-fan-forum.10/
Don't pretend that you care about facts. It is so much easier to dismiss everything as "paranoid delusions" than to hold your precious league accountable for its lack of integrity.
Excuse me for taking a short cut and giving the abridged version of suspicious officiating that favors the Pats. Details don't matter on this board so why bother?

Not sure why you would think being tax exempt would make a difference one way or the other but the NFL teams were never tax exempt, the league offices were. The ones who handle writing the rules, organize the draft, run the youth football programs, ie the administrative office.

Its beyond absurd to think the games are rigged. You can call into question the integrity of the individual referee but anything else is paranoia supped up tin foil hat wearing nuttiness.

Why would the owners, who are Goodells bosses and just rewarded him with a fat contract allow NE to get away with special treatment? You dont think the other owners would like a piece of the pie? They are billionaires, they are greedy by nature.

You had your facts wrong and you are engaging in paranoid delusions.

I'm not defending the integrity of the league. It has none. The league only cares about protecting its profits. The league's disciplinary rulings in particular have been inconsistent and unfair and Gronkowski should have still been serving a suspension this past Sunday.

The concussion protocols are an even larger joke. but that's an entirely different suggestion. It does prove the league is full of crap in its claim that it cares about player safety.

I've been critical of the league here and far longer elsewhere. But a conspiracy to favor one team does not make sense. Somebody would slip and it would get out and the risk is far to high for the league. It's just irrational. It is the same thing I had to tell people on other message boards when they cried conspiracy after the Steelers' victory over the Seahawks in Super Bowl XL. It's not that I think the league has too much integrity to be fixed. It's that I think the league has too much to risk for it to make sense.

I'm as furious as anybody at the result from Sunday night, but not only wasn't the reversal a fix, it was actually the correct call. Whining and crying about it won't change that.

Keep in mind, one knee, elbow or hip equals two feet. In other words, they didn’t rule that James wasn’t down or that he didn’t complete the catch, they ruled that the ball has to “survive the ground” . This should be the same call on the video I forwarded. That is why people are upset. I think they were BOTH catches.

Two feet in bounds while planted upright seems to me to be "initial contact with the ground." He was not leaning or falling out of bounds as he secured the catch. He hit the ground clearly and cleanly with 2 feet in bounds. Believe me, I'd love to be able to point out yet another bad-officiating gift for the Pats, but that's not one.

I think that the JJ play was inconclusive on video. I don't think it was clear cut of a catch as the Cooks catch, but there was absolutely nothing "indisputable" about whether or not it was a catch. Ergo, the call on the field needed to stand.

You are incorrect. They were both incomplete. The officials blew the call on Cooks' touchdown against the Texans. That is the rule. The receiver has to keep control of the ball through contact with the ground. In both cases, he failed to do so.

I think we were better off before we had replay, when an official ruled a touchdown it stayed as called, but now with replay an official rules a touchdown then 2 or 3 officials in new york plus the head ref picks the catch apart trying to apply perfection to a play that defies the logic of the rule not being judged fairly across the board by humans who arent perfect and make errors in judgement, just like troys interception in jan 06 against the colts in the playoffs a clear case of error by an official looking at the replay that was so obvious it was a pick the league apologized, yet that overturned pick could have cost us the playoffs, in my opinion we may as well eliminate replay because half of these jerks cant even see correctly whats being shown to them on a replay...............

I forgot also one very important part.

So they say they never got word about what they did during Spygate. The same guy that studies the rulebook and used an exploit with OL and TE to get an unfair advantage. They say what they did during Spygate never gave them a true advantage and the players still had to play.

Then how come after one of the biggest punishments in NFL history to a team at the time. Almost a million in fines and 1st round draft pick. Almost a year later.. McDaniels gets popped and fired for spying on teams in Denver? If it wasn't that big of an advantage why would he risk doing it? Also, why is he still in the league!!? He should be banned for life. But no, he runs back to Tainted Town. Now he's in the talks for filling HC jobs. The hypocrisy is astounding. You fail a couple drug test and your out for a year. You get caught cheating multiple times and nothing!!? It's a joke what they are allowed to get away with.

The thing is, all it would really take is for the NFL to correctly apply the "indisputable evidence" requirement. Instead of having one head ref in NY review it, have 3 or 5 refs review it separately, but simultaneously (with no contact with each other to establish "group think"). If all of them draw the same conclusion, and say it's indisputable, then the call is overturned. If even one of them questions whether it's indisputable, the call on the field stands.

Certainly a lot of unhappy customers here might warrant a review of current procedures.
One thing I can’t buy though is NY Favoring the Pats. That makes no sense to me and Deflategate reinforces that position. A lot of the NFL leaders are former NY Jet executives and they despise the Patriots especially Belichick after resigning to coach the Pats. I’m not buying!

JJ's was a catch and the part that pisses me off is I cannot find anywhere any pics that show the ball hitting the ground. Yet I can find JJ's hand under the ball, that alone should have been "not enough evidence" and the call on the field should have stood......

Exactly. My cousin posted on Facebook this morning with the same two pictures NY STEELERFAN posted above this morning, but it is clear that was right before or right after the ball touched the ground.

Face it folks. The officials got the call right. Maybe they didn't have enough evidence to overturn at the time, but given all we've seen now, they got it right.

I am old so forgive me if I am not totally accurate but in Ben's first AFC championship against the Pats. They were a step ahead of us all game almost as if they had an idea of what play we were calling. Wasn't that around the same time as the first time they were caught cheating. I know they do the same thing now but that's with Hayley calling plays and I can guess whats coming 75% of the time.

I don't believe its fixed but if JJ's catch wasn't a catch then Cooks wasn't a catch either, all we want is consistency.

I don't think the NFL has it rigged they are just too slow to react to their cheating, in what league could you get caught cheating ( deflate gate nerfballs except the Kicking ball ) and still go on to the championship.

I don't care how many super bowls they win most have some tainted stink on them.

Tuck rule they shouldn't have got to the big game. In almost 50 yrs I have seen it called let me think oh yah once.

Pete Carrols ridiculous call at the end to not run the ball.

Atlanta last year abandoning the run when all they had to do was run it and eat some clock.

One they should not have been there and two others they had handed to them by inept coaching.

I think what really pisses us off is they are good very good and arrogant and lucky, and that is just hard to stomach.

They make it really easy to hate them.

People wonder why I make threads like this, anyone else watching the bills game? Benjamin’s TD overturned??? How in the hell can they say they had conclusive evidence to take the touchdown off the board!
