I read it recently that Michael Lombardi a former Patriot executive said it. Google - Patriots taught not to extend to goal line then scan to find an article by Michael Lombardi. That’s where I seen it anyway.
There may be times extending works like when AB did do last year but more times than not it creates a negative result (incomplete pass, fumble, fumble out of end zone etc). That being said, JAMES White extended on winning SuperBowl play. Maybe that’s why he doesn’t play as much this year‍♂️

Retraction- i just came across a comment from Danny Amendola a Pats WR. He mentioned there is no ban on extending to the goal line. He was commenting on the tweet from Lombardi I mentioned earlier. Sooo; guess it wasn’t true!

Different circumstances. If Brown gets stopped short of the goal there, the clock probably runs out and the Steelers lose. If James is stopped just short, the Steelers have nearly 30 seconds left, plenty of time to get off at least one more play before kicking the field goal.

Thank you. That ball is touching the ground. By the stupid rule, it is an incomplete pass.

Was there truly enough evidence to overturn? Probably not, but it's damn difficult to complain when they got it right. Now if you want to talk about the blatant holds on Heyward, the interference on the interception, or the....

I agree, still makes you sick but they got it right. The fact of the matter is Jesse needed to secure the catch.

I’m just going to forget the other stuff and move on.

Thanks black gold! Looks like the call was accurate but it’s a terrible rule.

    Time to move on

It is indeed, still, very close. But the ball likely hit the ground haha.

Wait until the season is over. Then this matter will be further pursued. Right now it
    would be a distraction.

    btw:
The official explanation was ""By rule, to complete the process of the catch, he must survive the ground. " "BY RULE TO COMPLETE THE PROCESS OF THE CATCH HE MUST SURVIVE THE GROUND"

Where in the 2017 rule book is this incredibly prejudiced statement. It is not in SEC8
which covers passing. No one can find it.

Please bring this up when the season ends.

    Have you read the rule??

Recently, and after further review I had overturned my previous and unprintable views of the riv.[Al Riveron replay guy] Certainly no moron could come up with these rulings and explanations.

It is impossible to prove that the Buf WR's left foot did not come off the ground at least 1 millionth of a millimeter before he had possession.. [Yesterday's very controversial overturn]

Even more brilliant was that survive the ground crap which is misleading and prejudicial to the jj play, instead of the correct items 1 and/or 4 which shed an entirely different light on the play.

ARTICLE 3. COMPLETED OR INTERCEPTED PASS
Note: If a player has control of the ball, a slight movement of the ball will not be considered a loss of possession. He must lose control of the ball in order to rule that there has been a loss of possession.

If the player loses the ball while simultaneously touching both feet or any part of his body to the ground, it is not a catch.

Item 1. Player Going to the Ground. A player is considered to be going to the ground if he does not remain upright long enough to demonstrate that he is clearly a runner. If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball until after his initial contact with the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete.

Item 2 SIDELINE CATCHES. If a player goes to the ground out-of-bounds (with or without contact by an opponent) in the process of making a catch at the sideline, he must maintain complete and continuous control of the ball until after his initial contact with the ground, or the pass is incomplete. ---- Sideline??---not applicable---

Item 3. End Zone Catches. ---n/a

Item 4 Item 4. BALL TOUCHES GROUND. If the ball touches the ground after the player secures control of it, it is a catch, provided that the player continues to maintain control.

The injecting of the phrase "survive the ground" is also the work of genius. Still can't find it in the rulebook.

Not right and, I am not one to hang on to anger anat. Although

I am still pissed at Cowher from that tie with Atlanta back around 2000 to 2003 time frame. Remember? We were up 34-17 Late 3rd qtr. And billy cowher went into prevent win? and it was the first tie in like 10 years
