After awhile Butler might want to use double coverage on him, at least have a LB run down the seam with him along with Sean Davis. Somebody like Moats, he has some size Davis had no chance trying to cover Gronk by himself. Actually Watt is good in coverage, they should've tried him some.

I was thinking the same thing! Why not have Watt AND Davis cover Gronk? I know, I know, there are a lot of variables that go into each individual defensive call, but the fact is we need to do something different with Gronk and Butler failed in that regard.

I wrote in another post that it reminded me of IKe Taylor being touched by the Broncos. And they did not give him any help.
The Patriots made it known that they were doubling Brown from the start.
It’s like we have to much pride to acknowledge the fact we need to do the same.

Bad coaching there, you could see Davis loosing Gronk more and more as the game went on. Davis started to get hesitant and Gronk kept getting a step on him. I think Davis did what he could, but where was the help? Where was Mitchell, has he done anything all year, couldn't he at least slide over to help, similar to what teams do to AB.

That one is on Butler. Granted, Davis did himself little to no favors that game but Butler's inability to double up on Gronk was inexcusable.

Normally, Shazier would have been covering Gronk, likely with safety help. They don't have anyone else in the same athleticism class as Shazier in the LB group.

Well it did take us 10 years to figure out we needed to play man coverage, so how long will it take butler to figure out he needs to put watt on his punk ass???

They could have mixed in Watt some. More importantly, they needed somebody helping with Gronkowski on every play. They simply don't have anybody who can match up with him one-on-one.

There was no coverage on Gronk. The guy is good but he's an *******. He taunted with his last touchdown. We would have had a flag thrown if one of our guys did this.

It's not like Watt was sacking Brady, so why not have him drop into coverage along with Davis to cover Gronk. Harrison or Chickillo could take Watt's position as OLB in those situations.

I have asked multiple times in threads, who will cover GRONK? We don't have anybody to cover GRONK.

Shouldn't Davis have been the guy? 6'+ S with 4.4 speed. He was a big let down on Sunday and was exposed to the whole league.

    Back to the drawing board.

I think I would have Artie Burns cover Gronk if he goes in the slot.

Probably so. I bet there's only one board and it has "the standard" written all over it.

The last time we played them " cover Gronk?"

This time the same question remains. Our best should be on him which at the time is Burns and get him help

Brady didn't even look at anyone else LOL

I wouldn't either. I would just throw it up for grabs to him every play.

We held them to 27 points which is exactly what I expected they would score. We failed to score in the 4th quarter and looked conservative with the lead. That is the major contributing factor to the loss, not scoring more. Some of that is AB, but it seemed to me we took less risk. Romo was right on with that analysis during the game.

After a little chat with a former coach, he was telling me that we are probably underestimating our coaching staff, as well as Bellichick. Both of them know they'll meet again and both are still hiding secrets to each other.

If so, I'm hoping one of them is a trick to stop Gronk, like putting Watt on coverage, or a big OLB to hit him at the LOS
