I know it doesn't mean anything but on the NFL Network that was the consensus and Mike Mayock liked all their picks. I have one complaint I would've liked to see them draft a young safety to groom for the future, because Clark and Polamalu are on the wrong side of 30. They filled most of their needs got the best guard DeCastro and a top 5 tackle Adams also the best pure nosetackle Ta'amu.

I agree. Although I thought the Safety pool was very weak this year. I didn't see any future starting S in the mid or late rounds.

Safety is probably a position they can look to fill in NEXT year's draft. After this year, they won't have as many holes to fill and Polamalu and Clark, along with their back-ups still have gas in their tanks for a couple more years.

    Re-LOAD and dominate!!

I give them a solid "A". Adams scares me to death. There was a better ILB or OLB on the board when they pick Spence but I can see the upside in both. I don't think they put a lot of stock in the 7th round picks because it was still some pretty good value left. Chase Minnifield, Virginia, James Brown, Guard, Troy and Lucas Nix, Guard, Pittsburgh. But I can't wait until the UDFA list comes out.

All in all solid draft and satisfied!!! Go Steelers!!!!!

They did draft a Safety in a way ,,,Spence is that Hybrid guy who can play the ILB/SS spot in those 3-3-5 and 2-4-5 and 4-2-5 types of D'S that Teams will implore more and more as Teams pass more and more.....Also I seen somewhere that he benches 225 14 times normally he was not at full strength....Not to bad IMO....

I have been watching stuff on him a lot this afternoon and he is exactly the type of LB we needed and is exactly the type of guy who can play the SS spot as well IMO.....

Is why I did not want Hightower we needed a guy who can play the pass, heck some Teams just abandon the run all together when they play us so this makes this guy valuable as he can cover and he can rush and the tape shows he can run down QB'S as well.....This pick is really growing on me ,,as well as the scat RB pick.....The 2 OL where outstanding picks, good value at the NT spot so this has the potential to be the best draft ever.....

I think he plays some in the preseason games.....SS is just a small LB with great knowledge of the game,,I think that is Spence....If is was me he would take reps at that spot from day 1......IMO he can play that spot from the tape I have watched....

At 231 he won't be a safety butler said he is timmons back up this year. Once he hits the nfl weight room he will add even more bulk. Dude is farriors replacement. If you look and read he is farrior a student of the game a film room junkie and just has a nose for the football. HE ISN'T A SAFETY he's also not fast enough to play safety

He plays a lot faster than Mundy to me.....I am not saying he is the SS only guy.....I think he can play both and that the SS/LB position is in the midst of Changing.....

I think the kid can play and will play both.....We will just have to wait and see......Plus Troy is basically a extra LB most of the time ,I bet he spends at least 60% of his snaps in the box.....So why is it so hard to believe that Spence could not do that if Troy went down?

If the front office doesn't feel that Taylor Mays can cover well enough to be a safety....Spence is not a safety.

    Spence will be a LB.

All and all it was a great draft. Only starters I see is DeCastro now and Ta'amu later down the road though. Adams could be a starter, but I'm not sure who he replaces just yet? Colon or Gilbert? Could be tough?

I think that late WR we took could be really good, another Antonio Brown. Its going to be tough for Ben to spread the ball around and keep these guys happy, HA!!!

Why would you say that? There is a reason those guys were still there is the 7th.

I think it was a great draft. I know some of you weren't high on Spence but I think he will surprise you. Also, we got a NT in the 4th that everyone wanted in the 3rd. But I'll be super stoked if Decasrto and Adams pan out. Here's to the future of Steeler Football.

Fair enough, but we broke a lot of trends in this draft and we switched gears at the OC position,so maybe they will see things differently moving forward?Mays is going to be a stud IMO,he is waiting on the scheme to match his skill set....I still wished he was on the Team he would have made a great SS/LB type....

I wish Burfict well...I hope he proves a lot of people wrong.....His fall made me sad.....not that it was not mostly self inflicted....but he generally seems like a decent kid....and I am glad he gets his chance....Now he has to do something with it.

Yep I would take any of those over Mundy.....I just don't think Mundy is good enough at anything to be a starter.....He does a lot of things O.K. but nothing really good IMO.....I tend to like guys who at least can perform to a high level in some way,it is a lot easier to scheme around those types...

I like it. I give them an A+ with Decastro falling to us, and waiting until the 4th round to trade up with Washington to get NT ALAMEDA TA’AMU who was the only player I hoped we would get. I prayed for this guy because I think he is the perfect fit for our team. The defense will become dominant again with him. He will take up two guys and the LB's will do the rest. I think this guy is a young Casey Hampton who will be better then Dontari Poe for the next 8 to 10 years.

Now Big Snack's time is up becase McLendon and Alameda will replace him just fine this year. Casey's poor play is one of the reasons why the run defense was so bad last year. We will be dominant again this year against the run.

I trust the Steelers brass, and I think they got a steal with the Adams pick in the second. They are smart. I think that the O-Line will become dominant with Pouncey, Gilbert, Decastro, and Adams. Throw in whoever you want after those four. Now is the time for them to put Colon at guard along with those four.

The RB Rainey from Florida was a great pick. Once Redman proves he is a starting back, along with Batch, Dwyer, Clay, Rainey, and Spann, see you later Mendenhall!

So, our first five picks could see significant playing time this year. I even like the TE David Paulson from Oregon!

We will be stronger on the o-line, and we are better after the draft and will be able to deal with the Ravens for the division title. I know the Bengals and the Browns had good drafts but I can't see them beating the Steelers right now!

Well Carnell Lake was a LB in College who moved to SS and even CB. He is the Steelers D-Back coach!

I don't understand, why would he be Timmons backup, then be Farrior's replacement. So what you are saying is, he will learn Timmons spot as his backup and then play Farrior's spot at the leader of the defense. Doesn't make sense to me. Why not just say he is Farrior's replacement and will backup Foote.

Who knows where he will play, lets just say that. However, my wish is that he takes Foote's place this year. Get Foote's old behind off the field and get a young stud in their who can run and wreck havoc now that we have a legitimate NT in ALAMEDA TA’AMU who will always take up two blockers!

This was my thinking....not sure what the next S class looks like but yeah. They have a couple younger guys who can fill in if/when needed for now.

This draft was an A+ the minute DeCastro fell to to us.
