He'll be okay eventually, football okay don't know... Even if he was, he might decide better for himself.

IDK, TTF, the nature of this one seems to really wait and see, which is what they are doing; unless he is up and running 4.3 forties (which I am sure he is not) they just don't know - for sure - if he will come back 100%. That's the way it seems to me. With a broken bone, etc. it is much easier to predict the outcome. Spines and nerves can be unpredictable; look how long it took Peyton Manning to recover from the neck and nerves, etc.

Improved enough to travel is one thing, running 4.3 forties is another.

There are several board members with s more solid medical background than I do but I have to think that with two different medical staffs in two locations that they are proceeding with caution due to HIPAA regulations. Could be some fallout from when Schefter violated them during his reporting of the Jason Pierre Paul injury.

You think that is what’s important right now?

After what happened, that is literally the least of my concerns. I just want Shazier to be OK to the point that he can lead a normal life. If he plays again, that's just icing on the cake.

i just hope the young man recovers fully and can continue with life normally. i'm sure he is giving thought to play or not play this game after this. i sure would. if he does, will he be the same player as before? that would be in the back of my mind every time i'd step on the field after this. lots of time to think about it for him right now. it's had to scare the heck out of him. we'll keep praying for him no matter what he decides. i just want him to have a normal life after this. thats the biggest concern right now.

If the Steelers end up with home field vs the cheats, they should have Ryan walk out for the coin toss, that would turn the place upside down and give the steelers the extra boost to crush the cheats.

I follow MotoGP (basically, the Formula One of motorcycle racing, except not as sleep-inducing or political). This post reminds me of top guys incurring crash-related injuries. Sometimes, they're forced out of the sport (Wayne Rainey), sometimes they just don't want to continue (Kevin Schwantz) and sometimes they come back to be arguably the greatest ever (Mick Doohan).

I hope Shazier gets the opportunity to make the decision, rather than having it made for him.

Sounded like the Steelers delayed the statement for some reason, or perhaps there was a miscommunication to the press.

I hope it's not: "Ryan is continuing to get care from the staff at UPMC. He will continue to get the best care he needs. We'll give another update when the time is appropriate."

Yeah, I hope it's something definitive. And obviously, something very positive/encouraging.

I'm not sure what to make of this news. Anyone have some insight on this spinal stabilization surgery?

I'm not a doctor and didn't stay in a holiday inn express last night, but it doesn't sound good.

I say that in hopes that he can get better for himself and his family. We need him, but his family needs him more. All prayers.
