Is already making an impact on this team.I told you all that he was our best pick up in the off season.I'm telling you that our offense will be much improved. He is setting himself up for success ...not like arians  .I won't lie I was shook when they didn't say donte hightower but this was the best player on the board at that spot. :rawk:

We selected OLineman in the first and second rounds in BA's last 2 years.

Yeah, I don't really see a connection to hiring Haley and drafting Decastro. I can ensure you, it took about 20 seconds for Colbert to write Decastro's name down. In saying that, I think Haley will love the pick too though.

Exactly. If Haley was responsible for selecting DeCastro then I guess Bruce was responsible for selecting Pouncey. It was a no brainer. You wouldn't need the offensive coordinator to tell you that when a guy with that kind of talent is available when it's your pick you gotta take him. I love the pick but to say it was Haley engineered is really stretching it.

I truly believe if arians was still here we wouldve picked hightower.Pouncey was a no brainer with no other option. This draft at 24 we had hightower which was a great need as well.

Well, that's an opinion and you are entitled to it, all we actually know is that the Steelers selected a first rounder and a 2nd rounder in BA's last 2 drafts and picked one in the first in Haley's first, when the best Guard in the draft fell into their laps. Everything else is speculation.

DeCastro was a no brainer as well. Yes Hightower was an option and we have a need to fill at the LB position but the need at OL is and has been much greater for several years now. BA's history. Give it a rest already.

Can you imagine the "WHEW" that Stevenson Sylvester made last night when #24 was announced?! THe writing is on the wall now that they expect him to step up to the plate, starting this season. I hope he's up to the challenge and we don't need to worry about the ILB spot...

Also don't forget Worrilds the scout on Steelers Depot said he would make a great ILB...When I look at his tape and I agree ....I think we have our ILB of the future already on the Team, time to go with another OL or a Big WR....

    1. Coach Haley had nothing to do with this pick.

    2. We should be crediting teams in our own division for this guy falling. Cleveland taking Weeden? Cinn trading down and letting NE take a Dlineman they could have gotten had they stayed put. Our opponents sometimes get ahead of themselves and limit who they want.

    3. The best 2 drafts yesterday in our division were our's and Baltimore's, and they didn't draft anyone.

    4. DeCastro was so much a no-brainer that I honestly think every one of us sitting on this board could have made that pick just as fast. Arians wasn't a good OC, but even HE knows this guy has incredible talent.

    5. I cannot be happier that Hightower, who I truly liked, didn't go to the Ravens.

    6. There is still so much talent on the board, that I would love to see the Steelers move up and draft Cordy Glenn today. It would solidify our inside spots for the next 10 years. Gilbert 24/Glenn 22/Pouncey 22/DeCastro 22/Colon 29.

Not sure I'd completely agree with 1, as OC he'd surely at least have some input?

Doubtful he was ignored during the conversation, but Haley isn't the reason we got Decastro. Those reasons have already been laid out in this thread. Basically it was a no brainer.

Why would BA, an offensive coach, have gone with a defensive player? Why would he have called upon his omnipotent powers and struck down KC, MT and the rest of the war room with lightning bolts to choose a player who doesn't help his air attack??? I know it's hard for some of you to believe, but BA wasn't the owner, GM, HC, and defensive coordinator all rolled into one. And the Steelers are one of the most successful draft teams in the league, so you'd be implying BA actually did some things right if he's responsible for our draft choices. I know that just made some of you throw up to think BA could do anything right.

And not that I think Haley was the driving force behind selecting DD, but he'd have to be a vegetable not to draft him.

    :this!:
Yes! Trade up for Cordy Glenn. Our Defense was #1 last year. Our Offense was middle of the pack. Any questions?

Now do yoiu believe that Haley has influence and impact in this draft. We would never draft a character issue guy like this.

Of course he has input, I just don't believe he was the brain child behind DeCastro. There was no other option but him once he fell to us.
