Assuming they don't lose another game this season that is what it's going to take to win the Super Bowl. The Steelers do have a loss in their back pocket to give as long as it's not to the Patriots. Go 4-1 the rest of the season and beat the Patriots and finish 13-3 and get the number 1 seed. I just don't know if this team can roll off 14 wins in a row to win the entire thing. I'd almost rather them lose a game somewhere along the way as long as it's not to the Pats. It's a lot easier to win 6,7, or 8 games in a row as opposed to 14 games in a row. Has anybody else thought about this or feel the same way as I do.

Actually they have won 14 in a row before in 04, and counting the playoff divison round win against the jets they won 15 in a row before Ben hit the rookie wall in the AFCC game....http://www.nfl.com/schedules/2004/REG/STEELERS

Yep. As Diamond just mentioned Ben did it his rookie season. I'd like to see it repeated in this, his final season if he's really decided to retire.

They have to just take it one game at a time though. If they as players or coaches worry too much about that team up in NE the way some of these fans are then they will probably drop 3 in a row and limp into the playoffs.

In summary of the spot on comments above, 14 in a row is only relevant in retrospect (like in 2004) - one game at a time is what their goal and focus should be.

I’m not sure I buy into the whole odds thing. I frankly like the Steelers to have and maintain a winning mentality. Over the years, whenever we’ve lost to a team we were favored to beat (which has happened quite a few times), there are posts about how “this is just the kick in the pants the Steelers needed to turn things around and not buy into their own hype, etc.” That hasn’t translated to deep playoff runs recently. I don’t think a loss really does that. Get used to winning, and keep working hard to maintain focus, streak or odds be damned. It’s contagious!

I think we probably lose to NE and that gets our focus back on the bigger picture
Someone does us a favor n the playoffs and beats NE and then we go on and win the SB

"Can we" DEFINITELY YES. We have all the pieces of the puzzle so to speak. We have the best overall talent in the AFC, but when are we going to play consistently at our potential? Frustrating. What a waste it would be to not at least get to the Super Bowl. The Death Star is not what it used to be and held together by duct tape. We should blow it up and move on to see if we can beat the NFC`s best.

If it means us winning the Sb then I’m all for it. I don’t care how we get there just win. It’s not like I have a Brady poster on my ceiling next to my tomlin and cowher one...

What a team did over a decade ago has no bearing on what may or may not happen this year.

If the Steelers win the SB, I would actually see Ben wanting to come back for one more.

If we (fingers crossed) pull it together and win the SB this year it would be really crazy for Ben to retire.

He has the best WR in the game. He has the best RB in the game. AND he has a defense that is really starting to come together. Plus he will make 20 million+

Plus, we know that Elway was his football hero and John Elway knew after his SB win that leaving should be delayed until they rattled off two in a row.

Ben is a competitor. I think he'd like to best or at least tie Bradshaw.
