I thought the Steelers kept Jones way too long because they didn't want to admit he was a terrible draft pick. Hoodie would have sent him packing after his 2nd season. Pats don't let ego in the way of success like the Steelers do.

Nonetheless, are we seeing another form of Jones with Dupree? What's he actually done so far? Looks no better than Jones to me.

You mean besides the 12.5 sacks, 55 tackles, 20 assists in 2 1/2 seasons to JJ's 6 sacks, 84 tackles, 84 assists in 4 seasons?

Or the 4 sacks in 10 games this season to JJ's high watermark of 2 sacks in a season?

Other than that and the tremendous athletic ability of Bud, not much separating the two of them.

TJ beyond his obvious pedigree played in a 3-4 and had some idea of what he would be doing. Bud lacked even a position coach at UK.

Really not even close. Both are underperforming compared to their draft status, but Dupree is performing like a 3rd rounder whereas JJ performed like a UDFA.

My knock on Dupree is his high missed tackle rate but man to compare him to JJ is a joke. Dupree not only has out performed JJ but what don't show up on the stat sheet is the pressure he is getting as well. I think if Dupree cleans up his tackling he will be a monster........

Dupree is a more athletic Jones. Not being a hater, just not producing like he should IMO. The front office has made a lot of great picks recently, this one more based on raw athletic talent and i believe he isn't going to develop how they envisioned. Everyone kept saying give jones one more year and oh he's injured just give him time. If dupree doesn't step it up down the stretch run...i'm not saying he's a bust but for sure not a first round caliber type of player

I am still wondering is his shoulder still causing issues. Even if that is not being accounted for, his lack of bend and his over analysis of an attack plan bother me when he rushes the passer.

Within the same vein though, make no mistake; Jarvis Jones he is not. Furthermore, comparing him to T.J. Watt is like comparing Cameron Sutton to Artie Burns. Both former and latter for each had different circumstances which hindered their maximum potential in college.

T.J. Watt is a special player as he is both a great athlete and currently good, soon to be great, linebacker. Bud is still trying to be that great player. He can be as many of us see flashes of brilliance. Within the same vein though, Bud needs to not only continue to improve but stay healthy.

One thing to say he hasnt performed as well as we hoped yet and quite another to compare him to JJ.

And yes, think his shoulder injury is still an issue.

Dupree is a very good run stopper. Jones couldn't do squat.

Dupree is a late season guy. I remember him hitting stride about this time last year. Give him the full season before going JJ on him

Any chance he only hit stride around now last season was because he was injured for the first 10 games and didn’t play until game 11?

    Just a thought.

He has improved on that to an immense degree since his rookie season.

Dupree is another Steelers draft pick living up to his scouting report, almost to the letter:
    Weaknesses
Tall but not long. Wins with athleticism over skill at this point. Some scouts believe his instincts are below average, leading to hesitation. Will get caught taking bad angles to the ball. Needs to improve hand fighting. Still raw rushing the passer. Doesn't possess a go-to pass-rush move. Appears to lack urgency in-game.

Dupree is still a very raw player. It might take another season or 2 before he polishes up. But look out when he does. His ceiling is extremely high.

There is zero similarity with JJ. Dupree is a physical specimen. JJ was average at best athletically. Dupree is still going through a learning curve. JJ by the end was as good as he was ever going to be.

I might also point out that we're pressuring the QB with our D-line and up the middle as often as from the outside. I'm not sure any of our players will stand out with gaudy sack numbers. But the TEAM is doing well in that department.

Sure, Dupree has his flaws. But they're all correctable with coaching and experience. I don't doubt his motor or ability.

Munchak changed the OL for the better.. Maybe the OLB coach is not really a good coach?
