    Agreed.

    And if and when this happens, that is when one truly gets to see the growth and potential of the player.

    Concur. :smiley1:

    Being able to play without thinking in the most violent sport in the world is no easy task; playing arguably the second most difficult position in the sport no less. Having no mother and father to go also quite difficult while raising your own brothers magnifies this greatly as it puts not just mental strain but emotional strain as well.

    The athletic traits and the talent are present. All he needs at this point is more refinement within playing the game while letting his body and instincts guide him while he thinks less. Once that happens, what Mike Mayock said about might come true in the 2016 NFL Draft;

    "I know teams with a third-round grade on Burns and others that believe he could end up the best corner in this draft."

    Burns sucks, and this guy is on the sidelines laughing with a teammate after he blew coverage on that TD :facepalm:.

    These guys have to play it off. If they let it get into their head they’ll never play the same.

    Artie Burns....more like Always Burned. You would think covering AB in practice everyday would make games a breeze....he's got the tools but his mental game is lacking. This is where he and the coaches need to put in more time in the film room. I think he's gotten a little too arrogant and has to get back to basics...

    My point was, Artie gets blamed for WRs being open when he has two in his zone and doesn’t get the safety help he should.

    Someone on the coaching staff needs to slap him upside the head and tell him to get his **** together. Worst thing in world is when someone thinks they are better than they are. Tackling is horrendous and technique is terrible.

    Mitchell’s far from great, but in Cover 3 Burns has the deep 3rd to his side of the field, and Mitchell has the middle 3rd. Burns blew his assignments on the Moncrief TD vs Indy and on the wheel route for the Packers’ 1st TD. On the latter, Mitchell was coming over to pick up the WR running the post and Burns clearly had no clue what was happening in his own zone of responsibility.

    To answer the original question, I’d have to say no, Mitchell doesn’t make Burns better. However, he’s also not at fault for Burns’ constant brain farts in zone coverage. Mitchell shouldn’t be covering his own zone and helping Burns with Burns’s zone. One of the pillars of playing successful zone defense is every guy doing his own job exactly as drawn up.
