Brees is in the last year of his contract. He's going on the market.

Just close your eyes and let the salivation run down your chin for a moment.

Then wipe it away and come back to reality. We got the Bus years ago. Lightning won't strike twice.

But Brees in a Steeler uniform with AB and JuJu and Bell. Yep, there's that salivation again.

Why would he want to leave? Why would the Saints let him go if they have a good playoff run? I obviously wouldn't hate it, but I don't think there's a snowballs chance.

I look for the Steelers to draft the heir apparent to Ben. This year.

Brees is truly an elite QB. In my opinion there are only three elite QB's in the league at this time, Brees, Rogers and Brady. What makes these three elite is their consistency. Even when they lose a game they don't look like dog poop doing it. There are a number of franchise QB's in the league, such as Ben, but I don't consider him or any others as "elite". Just my 2 cents.

Brees actually has more Td's than Brady. And he's a couple years younger. Only up by 3, but it's just fun to kick the ball off Brady's tee whenever possible.

Don't think signing Brees will happen, but I hope our next franchise quarterback is more Brees-like than Ben-like.

Absolutely, and he has said he wants to retire a saint, plus they could sign him to a 2 year deal it doesnt have to be a long term contract....

Amazingly the Chargers let Brees go and took Phillip Rivers. Brees had a bad knee injury and they were worried about it.

Brees might even play longer than Rivers. Heck he might play longer than Big Ben. Crazy to think about it.

But, I think Brees will be staying, Saints might even use the franchise tag on him.

I've always been a Brees fan even since his days at Purdue.

Would be nice to see that as he could help us the next few years and also help groom the next QB we draft. Should we start taking up a collection? Even if the Saints let him go, you know we won’t pay out for him.

Rivers was drafted before the Chargers let Brees go. He also never had a knee injury.
Brees regressed in 2003-04 and was benched for Flutie. 2004 draft The Chargers took Eli #1 overall because Eli and father were trying to direct his destination and after the draft traded him to NY in exchange for Rivers and 3 draft picks.
2004-05 (Rivers rookie year that he was holding out btw) Brees was named the starter and led the team to a 12-4 record that year
Brees played out his rookie contract through the 2005-06 season. only going 9-7
Chargers wanted to see what they had in Rivers after 2 years on the bench so they let Brees walk in 2006 after a down year.

not a shot in hell that the Saints let Brees go, and no way the Steelers would sign him if he did become a FA

As i'm fast learning QB's can play into their late 30's and early 40's depending on how many hits and injuries they have incurred during their time in the NFL.Ben will not be one of these QB's.

While getting Breezy would be awesome I believe it's not the Steeler way for that position. Guy's like 37-38, do we really want him eating into the salary cap money?? Might make us good now but bad later. I don't follow College football and have no idea what is out there but I never heard of a guy named Bradshaw from a College I never heard of and I never heard of Ben until draft day. I'm going to hope and trust the Steelers draft a future leader for the 20's. (2020 and beyond)

Brees is too old. He should retire after this season IMO.

Never happen due to brees's age......
    Here's the deal

    We win the super bowl
    Ben retires
We trade our 1st and 2nd rd draft picks this yr. Along with our 1st rd pick the next 2 yrs and pry a once again healthy andrew luck from the colts

    If Ben retires....
Bree's isn't going anywhere for many reasons.
Now I think Alex Smith would be a great option and probably available because they really like Mahomes.
He would really be a nice fit...experience,still has the legs if play breaks down, never turns the ball over.
He never really had great WRs either...he has Kelce and now Hill but they aren't AB and our other guys.
IMO perfect fit especially with a D on the rise....

Here are my thoughts on this and and they have been for a while.

Ben will retire this year from the Steelers (hopefully with SB #7 for the Steelers).

The QB shuffle will begin. Breese will go to the 9er's. Cousins will probably go to Chicago or Vikings or Buffalo. Where ever he doesn't go Luck will end up at one of the other 2. Manning will return to the lowly Giants with a new coach. Many other teams will go for these major players but I think that's where it ends up or close to it.

Ben will take 2018 off and then play his final contract in Arizona back with Arians.

No, no, no, no. I don't know if Luck will ever be healthy for any stretch. I knew to stay away from him in my fantasy draft. I think Irsay screwed up by giving him that contract.
