a neighbor of mine told me that he heard today that Ben had asked the wr's to workout with him early and had one response of yes. that was from antonio brown. He swears he heard it on sports radio. I think he said cowherd. I have not heard this or seen anything about it. Wondering if anyone has? I dont believe it myself

I've not heard this, but yeah, Wallace would not have been a 'yes'. ;-)

Sanderes may not be ready, but could wallace have not done it. I mean it is not offical . to me it would be no different than working out on your own. I really don't believe this, but I am highly disappointed if it is true. I mean ben is not the best leader in the world I know, but if he is trying and his teammates have better this to do that sucks. I know jericho was just signed and hines is gone, but if ben was trying to work on the new playbook, I would hope everyone left would want to.

I believe if this was true that brown and cotchery wouldve said yes but wallace and sanders wouldve said no.

This could all be a bullcrap argument. If Ben had asked them (and since there is no source here, i find it highly doubtful) the only receivers under contract were Brown and Sanders. Remember that out of our six receivers on game day last year, two were released/retired, two were not under contract (Cotchery/Wallace), and one was coming off an injury. Also, checking the roster on steelers.com, there are 5 WRs who were either recent signees or PS last year, who would be absolute idiots if they didn't come to workouts, voluntary or not.
Personal opinion: idle gossip started by Ratbird fans.

All I can say is that I, sincerely, hope this isn't true. It wouldn't bode well for our team if this is the kind of commitment we are going to see. Until I read it on the internet (wait I just did) I wont believe. That is a joke of course, but I would like to see it somewhere official before I believe it.

First off I think that if the story is true it shows the character of Antonio Brown in that he is willing to do whatever it takes to get better. Secondly I don't read too much into it. THis isn't a team mandated activity or any type of OTA, this is Ben saying hey wanna come throw the ball around with me. So given the new OC and the uncertainty of the new playbook perhaps some thought it would be counter productive or maybe the coaches have already organized workouts more in line with that new offensive philosophy and the players are choosing to go that route. There are also players like Ike Taylor and Dwyer this year who will be going the route of their own off-season workout regimen. Finally and this is my own opinion here based solely on my own observations I think it does indicate that perhaps Ben' s position as quote/unquote team leader is not as firm as he believes it is.

Brown is turning out to look like a gem over all this stuff. I bet his agent told him to take the high road and he'll get the best deal out em all. OR he is just a great team player ,I hope that's the case!

No it shows that Ben wants to be a leader. I dont care whether they all accepted or not. If its true, Ben is stepping up and that means alot. Especially with all the talk about Ben and the new OC wont get along, blah blah blah. You dont build a team over night or all at once. You build it one player at a time. Maybe it was just Ben and Brown, I hope it went well and Brown tells the others how great it was etc etc etc. This team is Superbowl caliber and we all know this. The talent is there, the heart is there, and the know how is there. Get em on the same page and focusing on the same thing, we re unstoppable. :yeehaw: :towel:

How does that show Ben wants to be a leader? If all he did was invite the Wr's to come work out with him is that in line with the new direction Haley and Tomlin want to take the offense in? If not then he is inviting the guys to come over and play pitch and catch with him with no set strategy or regimen that the coaching staff has set up. This can lead to locker room problems because it becomes guys who followed the coaches and did the OTA's and work otus the way the were suppose to and the guys Ben had over to practice things the way he wants to do it. So until I hear that the coaching staff has given Ben and the WR instructions on what to practice and how to practice this is a non story.

The girl that does my wife's hair told her that her boyfriend's brother's wife's sister's gardener's dad said he heard that Todd Haley likes to wear women's panyhose in the shower. He might have heard it on the radio, or saw it on the internet, or read it on the bathroom stall wall at hooters. Anyways, thought you guys should know that haley is a sick and twisted dude.....

Nothing to see here boys and girls... move along...

Are you people still suggesting that you can't believe everything you hear or read...especially on the internet. Haley likes to wear pantyhose, in the shower no less, he is one sick, twisted dude...everyone knows that a guy should only wear those in places where you wont chafe. But, this notion of not believing everything, I wish some of you would stop trying to spread this filth. Some of us like TMZ, Perez Hilton and the New York Times. Let me have my delusions and you can have yours!
