Don't listen to it often, but "The Terrible Podcast" isn't half bad.

Old fart here, seriously, what is a podcast?

I'm interested in learning. What are the options? What will I find?

If any of you need pointers on using a slide rule, I can help. Do any of you know what a slide rule is? Do any of you know how to use one? Before you laugh, they helped us put a man on the moon and to build Fat Man and Little Boy. Do you know who they are?

Lol, I used to play around with a slide rule as a kid, but couldn't figure out how it actually worked.

Think of a podcast as a weekly radio show - they're episodic digital recordings you can download and listen to (or, in some cases, watch). Most run on a weekly pitch, though it can vary. There are several sites you can Google that show collections of different podcasts by subject, etc., so you can explore and find ones you like.

Unless you are one of the Village People, you shouldn't be wearing leather pants.

Thor above gave a pretty good basic answer.

Since I live here in NYC I obviously don't get to listen to Steelers sports radio and don't have one Steeler fan friend to hang out with. I like talking football but, I'd rather talk Steelers football. I only mildly pay attention to other teams to have a basic understanding of our opponents and stuff. I can only take so much Giants and Jets nonsense before I want to swallow a bottle of pills. And since this is really a true baseball town Yankees and Mets really dominate so much conversation in the airwaves and in person.

I just started a new job that provides a lot of solo time where the day goes by listening to the radio but it's not entirely solitary, so a radio with music I've heard 9 million times gets old.

So, yes, I found these radio show podcasts that I can download to my cell phone and listen with an earplug which help curb the crave for my Steelers appetite but the two shows I have listened two are good but get repetitive with the opinions of the same dudes and only add up to a few hours out of a 40 hour work week. "The Terrible Podcast" and one other.

But once again I'd like to hear about some other favs.

I'm guessing you may be in my age group when players use to just spike the ball and shake hands after a TD. then we would call each other to talk about it on a rotary dial phone.

Unfortunately, yes, and the first 2 parts of the number were the function of a word. Mine was Fairfax 1.
