$48 grand for his hit on alex smith, according to 93.7 The fan. Heafty fine! 3rd. largest for an on field incident.

He’s appealing the decision. Do the fines ever get reduced?

If he deserved a fine from that game it was for the helmet to helmet hit he put on a RB who was already wrapped up, it certainly wasn't for getting tripped and pushed into Smith. The NFL is a joke.

This will probably be the new normal going forward with whole suspension thing. Smith and his buddy Tony G campaigned all week to force the issue. Every 15 yarder will be followed by a week of whining for a suspension. They should start issuing fines for discussing calls, if you complain about the refs they will fine you but you can actively grandstand for discipline against other players.

I couldn't tell either way - if he was pushed or could have avoided contact. But with his track record, I don't care. If he played for Cinci of Balt. we'd hate him.

He's a repeat offender. He's lucky there wasn't a suspension. He'll plead his case and get it reduced a bit. But the crosshairs are on him. He'll get penalized for blowing his nose on the sideline if the snot travels more than 5 yards at this point.

He’ll get burned the whole game now because he will play scared. His main concern won’t be stopping the runner, it will be the grandstanding all week by retired idiots and sore losers.

He is being fined for the hit and the facemask. Not to mention he is a repeat offender. Put the 3 together and of course its a hefty fine.
The next one will be a 1 game suspension.

They probably fined him a $1000 for each box of Kleenex that Alex Smith went thru while talking to the media about it.

Yinz can get pissy with me if ya like but...

Screw Mitchell... he's flying in late a LOT it seems to me. People talk about "enforcers" and while I'd love someone who distracts guys like Edelman and Gronk (of course Gronk wouldnt even notice if Mitchell hit him) as they go across the middle... for some reason I recall Clark playing that role better than Mitchell (i.e. more effectively with fewer penalties)

Seems like he'd rather be out of position and plow into someone than break up a play.

He was responsible for a free touchdown in the AFCC game biting on a run fake and dropping coverage.

Looks like the chiefs do a little cheap shotting themselves, only their player marcus peters cheap shotted derek carr after the whistle had blown the play dead and carr was down on the ground:

Tensions are already high when the Oakland Raiders play the Kansas City Chiefs, but they got that much worse on TNF.

In the second quarter, Derek Carr tried for a QB sneak and it went absolutely nowhere. In the midst of being thrown to the ground, the whistle blew, but Chiefs’ Marcus Peters still came in and delivered a cheap shot to Carr.

That hit set off a wave of events that almost started a brawl and caused Marshawn Lynch to come out on the field to protect his QB, but he ultimately pushed an official and got ejected.

I'm not a Mike Mitchell fan. Ryan Clark was much better player for us. Plus it really ticks me off when I see a safety celebrating making a tackle 13 yards down field, just because he hit a guy kind of hard.

Apparently, the RB was taunting Mitchell in a “c’mon, son, bring me down if you can” kind of way. Bringing him down bigtime was what Mitchell was celebrating.
