I agree with the gist of the article but dont think either will feel their ass get even slightly warm.

The empty sets on the goal line or 2nd and short is inexcusable though. Enough of that garbage.

On Butlers side, they just laid an egg Sunday, you have bad days sometimes. They werent making those mistakes the first 2 weeks.

Can't leave Danny Smith off that distinguished list though simple lack of execution by two players can explain the two monster gaffs in Sunday's special teams play - but can't that argument be made more often than not in all phases of a game? O & D calls are probably more attributed to coaches over-estimating the ability/proper execution by players than just being ignorant of the game situation at the time. (Exception would have been kicking off in OT in 90 degree Chicago field heat had the Steelers won the toss.)

Full credit to the Bears on their offensive game plan. They let guys be over aggressive in order to create open cut back lanes. The Steelers were way too aggressive and then showed poor fundamentals trying to take Howard down at thigh level or chest level and just bounced off him. It was effective and showed patience

Agreed. There were several points where a good tackle would have resulted in a 4 yard loss rather than an 8 yard gain.

I think losing Timmonds and Harrison was a big blow to our ability to control power running backs. Shazier looks like a safety and misses an awful lot of tackles (he makes a bunch too though), Vince I think is our best run stopping LB but he too looks small and not as good as Timmons or Harrison, and Dupre is hit or miss each week. Chickillo seems to be too slow and is easily juked or out ran. The d-line is pretty awesome though, especially Hargrave this year.

I'd add Carnell Lake to that list as well.

Defense had a bad day but they are solid. Haley is silly with his empty sets. Always have a dual threat

Butler shouldn't really be in the conversation. Haley's headscratchers would be easily overlooked if the offense wasn't executing inconsistently throughout the game.

This. Especially when the defense knows that they can discount 3 of the WR most of the time and dbl up on AB and Bryant.

Why is he even in any "hot seat" discussion is something I have not the foggiest.

If players like Dupree and Shazier are over zealous and want to smash the ball carrier as opposed to tackle them as they both had opportunities to do so against Chicago, why the blame is on Butler is beyond me.

    If anything, Dupree and admitted this;

Seriously, all this team needs is discipline and fundamentals. That’s it

    Like Bill Belichick?

Even that should be beneath him. Belichick does not say anything because Belichick will find ways to win with different methods in a multi arrary of ways.

He is a master of personnel exploitation. He is a master of schematics; adhereing to conventional methods being a testament to his coaching abilities.

Such coaches come around every once so often. Pittsburgh had one in Chuck Noll. Bill Belichick happens to be this generations greatest coach.

Ultimatley, Mike Tomlin does not have to be draconion in his coaching. The players need to take accountability and salvage self-discipline in order to play better.

Boy I would think the whole coaching staff would be on notice after losing to a possible 4-12 team
with a qb that is not as good as our back up leading the way. This is why the frustration some of us have
with Mike Tomlin coached team. Unprepared for each and every game. When we lose the playoff bye
and have to go on the road ask yourself how did we ever lose to this inferior team.

Agree 100% love Dupree but he need to stop the big hit and worry more about wrapping up. Also add Chick to the list of guys who missed tackles as well.

I can see Haley's @ss getting warm. This Offense should be a powerhouse not trying to get up after they have fallen. The Defense has been holding up their end sans the Bears game. The Offense with ALL the talent has not clicked. Sure the list why has been talked about over and over. I truly feel that Ben and Haley are and never will be best buds. The blame lies on both Haley's at times questionable calls and Ben's lack of taking what the Defense gives him. If I see him throwing a bomb on 3rd and 2 again i'm going to go off the chain. Maybe it's defiance. I hope this gets straightened out with a big divisional game against the hated crows coming off a complete embarrassment. Hopefully this Offense hasn't been a complete embarrassment 4ish on Sunday...

I will add a thought here because that is all I can muster this morning. All summer long the cry has been for our secondary to get better and perform. Explain it how you want but they held Chicago's passing game. Maybe the focus was on the secondary so much we forgot some of the basics. I know I haven't been to practices or part of team discussions (why I am not included is beyond me...I have all the answers), but the way we play lends to my belief. As for the offense, I've always been a huge Ben supporter. I have always appreciated him for more than just his abilities as a QB. Sometimes he just played like a tough SOB...that has to rub off on your teammates. So far, he hasn't looked like himself. So for right now, I somewhat blame Ben for our struggles and Bell but I wont go into that right now because I really would like to have a good day.

Yup in fact you can add him to the list for the last several years. He is not a coach. Amazing player but that's where it ends if you ask me.

I agree with the Ben and Haley stuff. I for one am also a Ben defender however that don't mean I can't criticize him. Ben loves to throw the deep ball and to be honest he is not very good at it. We have been lucky enough to have some very good and fast wr's over the years. Go back and watch how many of these guys had to wait for the ball, now I know there are reasons for that like Ben being one tough guy to bring down that it ends up being late. That is not the case all the time and don't get me wrong I love and appreciate what Ben has done for us. Go back to last year, the 2nd half of the Raven game and the 1st have of the Miami playoff game. Watch how the short quick pass made our offense unstoppable and set up the long stuff.

I think the head butting stuff with Ben and Todd has to stop and Ben needs to let Todd lead. There is no excuse for this team to not score 30 every game with all the talent we have on the offensive side of the ball. These are just my opinions as a fan, I don't know what goes on at practice or behind closed doors and I also don't know how much Ben is changing the plays or how much is Todd's calling. All I know is for the last several years we went from a defensive team to an offensive power house.....it is time for the offense to carry their weight.

I agree. I think the defense is going to be fine. They need to address stretch plays, Bears torched them repeatedly with it but I think they are going to be a solid unit over all.

Ben is holding this offense back. GASP! What did Blast Furnace just say???? Yup, its Ben. Hes old and the God given talent he was getting by on is diminished greatly. He needs to play much smarter now. He recognizes that he is looking for AB too much, hopefully he can now apply that in games. He left a bunch of open receivers hanging out in the breeze last week.
