I don't think signing him would hurt this team at all, but at the same time, if they decide not to take a run at him, I'm good with that as well. I'm not convinced this secondary is as much of a mess as we think based on a few pre season games that were vanilla and mix and match.

I see now that news is the Steelers are favored to sign him.

yup then joe gets hit concussed and is out, revis shatters his ankle, golson comes back signs an autograph and becomes paralyzed, then we are boned lol. But yeah I get you, at this point its all or nothing, even if it likely means we might BUST big time.

Yup that's pretty much how I see it Cajun. Would not hurt to try him out. I like him because not only of his skill set but because I don't ever remember hearing any negative stuff on or off the field.

I'm more and more on board with win now, take risks. Ben may very well be done after this season, maybe we get lucky and he goes another 1 or 2 but I think the organization needs to operate under the assumption this is the last season and once Ben leaves, things get a bit more murky without a good QB.

I have a feeling the Steelers will be a little cautious about a multi-year contract after L. Green. They may offer competitive money but only for 1 year. That will be how we lose him.

Yeah but if you look at it, he will want to play for a winner, and win. Take a one year deal, if he does better stays healthy, he could score a bigger contract with someone else in FA next season.

My thing is we will throw picks and money at TE's which we don't really need. But will only take projects at DB. Never went after one that has shown they are above average.

Steelers are in a position where they have to do something. We are prepared if he blows but what if he doesnt? You have to take the risk. Steelers are a Super Bowl contender and they have one team in their way. They have to find a way to have their corners cover long enough for Bud, Watt and Harrison to get to Brady should they meet in the playoffs.

I read that the Browns are on the hook for his first 4m, so theoretically, it could be possible.

    Aren't they doing that now?

And they didn't really 'throw' picks away for McDonald, they simply swapped a 4th for a 5th. Not a big deal.

Lets see if they actually get him.

Just going to leave this here. We could use this. 2 picks against Flacco.

I would be MORE than pumped to get Haden in. He could be finished, but if not, dude is athletic and only 28.

The picks were nice, but you realize he also got burned pretty badly a few times plus a penalty on that tape, right? Is he an upgrade? Probably. Is he Joe Haden of a few years ago? Not likely.

Like someone else said earlier, the money matters. I'd like to get him, but I wouldn't mortgage our cap future for him. He's not the player he once was.

This was last year and he's 28. He got burned once if you want to call it that but was a perfect throw and catch if you ask me. Then one iffy penalty. Lets see constantly burned vs. burned once and 2 ints. Yeah, I'd be ecstatic if we land him. We have 13 million in cap space and Steelers usually keep around 3 million heading into the season. Not really mortgaging our future. He's already getting 4 million from the Browns. Great thing about the NFL you can always cut them. It's not fully guaranteed. Sign him on a 2 year deal and 1st year heavy since we got the cap and friendly next year.

considering haden has no pass rush or help, yeah I'm pretty excited to land him here. IF he is recovered from surgery, even better.

Literally every Steelers CB besides burns gets pooped on over and over and over. Haden brings something to the table. Better tape than any Steelers CB has right now FACTS

There are two teams that could whip the Steelers soundly. Patriots, of course... and Raiders with Carr at QB. No way do the Steelers make the AFCC game last year if Carr was not injured.

I'd rank the Steelers #3 in the AFC at best. They are realistically somewhere around 5-10 with the below average secondary and overrated offense.

First of all he was beaten for a TD in the red zone by none other than Mike Wallace, and then was easily beaten for a 35-40 yard gain by a 52 year old WR who is now retired. Both of those plays would have gotten our corners roasted alive on this message board. The illegal contact wasn't iffy at all within the rules. I'm not saying I wouldn't want him, but let's be honest with ourselves about whether he's the same guy that he was a few years ago.

On the dollars- you're assuming we wouldn't need to make guarantees to get him. Right now the only people who know what offers he's getting are him and his agent. To win the bidding for his services may require a significant chunk of guaranteed money if there's another team out there who really wants him. I think we should stay away from significant guaranteed money beyond this year.
