Said today he isnt ruling out FA to fill the ilb position or moving worilds or carter inside. Sounds to me like he doesnt think Sylvester is the answer either but he did say farrior will not be back.

Even if we moved Carter or Worilds inside, they wouldn't be ready to start anytime soon.

Moving Worilds inside at this point tells me he's a bust, if they're really considering that.

Ever watched Timmons have to play OLB? He sucks. That being said, he is really good in the middle. Hmmm. Okay maybe not a bust, maybe just not a fit for OLB like we thought he would be.

The other thought might be, they really like him, but Harrison and Woodley are signed for how long? How do we get the kid on the field? We need to get him on the field...

If a player is reckoned to be good enough to swap positions and still compete for a starting job in the NFL... then they can't really be called a bust.

If they win said starting job and play horribly for the whole season, then call away.

Alternatively, it might be that they feel they have more depth at OLB, and want to try Worilds inside because someone else can take up his position.

Alternatively (2), we may end up with London Fletcher after all...

Fletcher ia coming from a 4-3 but so did farrior seems like he could fit in but it would absolutely have to be at a good price for the steelers.

I wouldnt be against Carter on the inside...I still think he's too small for the outside in a 3-4. The other side of the coin it'd be nice to get Worilds on the field more util he steps in for Harrison in the next year or 2. But they know their players and what they can/cant do...so I will trust their decision.

I wonder if they're actually thinking about bringing Farrior back (and alternate him with Foote / Sylvester)
It's a bit strange he hasn't retired (as the rest of our cuts). Mix that with Colbert's comments...

Timmons did average at OLB this year, but I think it is because he had to do it on the fly. If he had a whole camp to work on it, I think he would excel as a OLB. The Inside linebacker position has been ingrained in him.

I'm wondering if Colbert wants to move Worlids or Carter inside because there is a OLB/DE pass rusher in the draft that they REALLY REALLY like? Someone to replace Harrison in a year or two???

There is one thing i love about timmons at olb. And thats pass coverage. He is right on the line to cover the te so theres no gap for the te to make a move. He did a great job on gronk.

The redskins run a 3-4, so fletcher has played in a 3-4. However he is older than farrior. I like Hawthorne from Seattle. He has been playing in a 4-3, but he is 27 and very good. 5 years 25 mill and cut Foote.

Hawthorne would definitely be an upgrade from Foote. I guess it's how much of an upgrade or stopgap he would against the other LBs we have.

I agree that Timmons is not good as an OLB, which is why he plays ILB (other than last year when we had a ton of injuries). What's your point? :?

Why? Isn't it possible someone could move positions to help, not because he's a bust? Timmons slid to OLB not because he's better there, but because he was the best option available. Anyone who watched Worilds this year knows plain as day he's not a bust. He's great at OLB.
