Sort of. First short and long drop against the Pats was a tremendous lack of effort. It's more than the fingers now. It's the fingers and confidence/drive/ etc.

He got hurt during the Jet game, thats when all the drops started, I remember that game day thread. He still had like 200 yards that day if Im not mistaken.

His confidence was shot by the NE game, which was a direct result of the injury. He was also still injured. He shouldn't have been out there, I would have played Ayers.

In what world is Eli a lock? He has one job and managed to screw that up and that was playing with Ben so you can't use your hatred of Landry Jones to paint Rogers incompetence on this one. He doesn't play special teams, he isn't a blocking stud, he is a slot receiver who despite being shifty never broke away from anyone last year and did manage to kick his own foot and knock himself out of the game and out of the line up. You know that stupid movie line where winners always want the ball? Well in the AFCCG you saw a former lacrosse player take the opportunity given him and become the story if not a hero of that game. Eli was given the same opportunity in the same game and he did nothing to prove he wanted the ball, deserved the ball, or could deliver with the ball. Eli could be replaced by every guy he is fighting against for a roster spot, so he better show he can do something when given the chance because right now broken fingers, bills cast off, tiny receivertinyschool, and everone's journeyman and favorite roster cut, show the same thing he does and that is excluding your other man crush the CB wannabe.

You know I used to admire the way you stood up to all comers for Issac Redmen, because Redmen had heart and it drove his will, which overcame a lack of talent. However since then your crusade for these man crushes has got further from reality and just plain bizarre. I like an underdog and cheer for the heart guy more than the superstar athletes but calling Eli a lock and then throwing shade at Landry Jones, no correction slandering him as well as just ignoring every fact that shows Ross Cockrell is solid player is just crazy. CRAZY.

Ross gets turned around too often in coverage.

Eli will make the Team bank on it.LJ is a bad QB ..Ross is average at best and I think we need better than average if we want to win it all ..

Much as others have done here is how I see the wr depth shaking out. They are almost sure to keep 6 on the final 53.

There are 3 players locked in.
    Brown
    Bryant (if he stays clean)
    Smith-Shuster

I'm not going to get into terminology or designations but those will be the top three and we will see them in the 3 wr base formations, a lot. Juju is going to get playing time and is going to surprise a lot of teams.

Now as far as 4-6 goes I think DHB makes the team just because of special teams. I think the coaches appreciate his work and he will continue his special teams excellence. Let's put him as 6th on the depth chart so that leaves spots 4 and 5 to be decided an 5 guys fight for those spots.

Hunter- I think he makes the team, sorry he just does. I have never witnessed this team sign a free agent and then cut him the same year, even a guy as bad and as universally disliked by the fan base as Cam Thomas wasn't cut so unless the Grenn debacle has soured KC on free agents he stays.

So really one spot four guys and each brings something different although not spectacular. Ayers knows his only path to the roster is as KR/PR and then maybe get some gimmicks plays. If they keep him as a special teams guy it could mean Davies is not on the roster but more likely Fitz is gone.

This leaves Coates, Hamilton, and Rogers fighting for one spot so again Rogers has to bring his A game to camp and show them something because after this group **** the bed in the AFCCG there aren't going to be anymore fluffy articles about all the great things Todd Haley thinks Rogers brings to table, that get him a roster spot. It's put up or shut up time.

Not wanting to knock on Ben , but he has a lot to do with why Eli didn't break any long ones ..Ben doesn't throw enough balls where guys can keep running ...Ben was high on a lot of throws, so the Team might consider keeping a taller WR ..I change my mind Eli is not a lock now that I think about it ...If Ben was a more precise thrower then I would say yes , but as you stated yac is what Eli is about him and Ben will have to get in tune much better to show case that skill..

I'm aware DHB is solid on special teams and doesn't do boneheaded things like Shamarko Thomas did... But, I also don't remember any splash plays either. So, I just checked the Steeler's website for 2016 stats and it said DHB only had 4 tackles last year. So, while he is solid and dependable, I don't keep him on the roster over Ayers, Coates, Rodgers or Hunter.

Except Bryant had to make it public in the media, he can see Ben when they report to camp no problem, but keep it in house, or is MB seeking attention????

My 2 cents is that Ben called him out in the media which stung since Bryant would have rather they kept family business in the family and so he responded in like fashion although he did state that they are all good and nothing need be said.

ben also made it public. probably depends on what the reporter was probing for since news is slow. asking him about he and ben in some form. this came up long ago too before last season. this is a follow up probe for news stories most likely.

Didn't they just spend a lot of time together in OTAs? How hard was it to talk then?

There's definitely a rift between Bryant and Ben. Hope it gets squashed soon.

Wait... that was the thought process that changed your mind around whether Eli was a lock or not?

Brown, Bryant, Juju, Rogers , Coates, Hamilton would be my guess. Unless I'm forgetting an obvious lock, which I wouldn't put past me.

Hunter is a lock because when was the last time KC walked away from a free agent signing at the end of the preseason? That leaves two spots and four guys fighting for them with two being special teams guys for the most part

Then I would assume Coates or Hamilton are gone. I'm a big Rogers fan, I think he's already a lock.

Not necessarily as I said to PWP. Drafting Juju will hurt Rogers touches and he wasn't impressive in the AFCCG. So he needs a camp and preseason for the ages to put him on the 53 because he lacks the special teams aspect the others bring

I think Ayers has to be in the conversation, DHB , Coates & Hunter better bring it.
