I don't usually play the disrespect card, but is it just me or the Steelers getting disrespected in the media left and right this off-season on these 'top whatever' lists?

To Be Honest with you, this has been happening long before this off-season. Ever since we won our 6th Super Bowl, teams got jealous of us. Also, you can add on the controversies with Ben's scandal and Harrison's "dirty hits". This can be compared to the Penguins winning their 5th Stanley Cup by repeat. Also, Sidney Crosby has gotten some hate over the span of his career due to certain behaviors that other players do from time to time. It doesn't take much to hate a team that wins the championship too often. Just look at the Patriots, even I'm sick of them winning all the time.

Our culture can play a role as well. Just think of everything Pittsburgh: The Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, Pittsburghese, Primanti Bros, Giant Eagle, chipped ham, etc.

My point is that even though we may get disrespected at times, just remember that you live in the Pittsburgh area: A great city that as an intriguing culture, not forgetting that we are a city of champions. We won 6 Super Bowls before any other team in the NFL. In my opinion, if anyone ties our record, it would be a great accomplishment for them, but it wouldn't feel the same since we did it first.

Not sure nationally if we are being disrespected, locally the expectations are very high here in W PA.
Barring an injury to #7, I think we are in good shape for a Superbowl run.

    I wouldn't call it disrespect.

Overlooking/Underestimating maybe. But I wouldn't take these lists as exercises in spite.

I don't think they are overlooked, underestimated or disrespected.

Most of what I hear nationally, or outside of PGH, is that the Steelers are the 2nd best team in the AFC after NE. That they have a potential for a big tine offense.

All that sounds about right to me. Not withstanding the Yinzer tendency to find slights that aren't there..

I don't know... I see the Steelers getting far more disrespect on this board than from the media.

IIRC Dak is ahead of Ben on NFL top 100... Ezekiel is ahead of Leveon as well on that same list.

Some national writer recently made a greatest RB all time list... the Bus was pretty low, and Ezekiel Elliot was already on the list as a rookie.

Another writer didn't even put AB and MB as a top 5 WR tandem.

Also, I believe there was some other national writer who dissed our D, I forget what it was for though.... but I remember it was ludicrous given we have Shazier and Heyward on the team.

Personally I think the Steelers are a better team being disrespected vs having expectations.

I'll never understand why people need to have their sports teams validated by the media.

How to not get disrepected in the media: Stop playing down to the competition. Stop losing games you should win. Beat the patsies more than once a decade.
