A full 16 game season is what I was referring to.

Regardless, odds are Le'Veon will not get an extension here.

Very few backs play a full 16 game season in this league, Bettis only did it 3 times in 13 years, counting preseason Bell played 4 quarters in 14 games and had a brief appearance in his 15th game, all in all pretty productive for any back....

But his non availability the other games was not because of health.

I would like to keep Bell. I hope both parties come to an agreement. Contract should be based on his potential, which he has lots of.

See what? If Dwill is on the team? Not happening.

Besides, he's not an irorman player by any stretch. Career marred by injuries. That won't improve with age.

Team is set at RB. Not even remotely on the coaches or GMs mind.

All the more reason James Conner feels deja vu to me.

Meaning when the season starts and bell goes down all we have is rookie RB this won't help keep the balance at least with DWilliams you don't have to be limited on offense but I get what you're saying and can't wait until season starts

brown-dukes, fitz, davis, conner is not exactly an empty stable behind bell, without Dwill.

None of which has proven they can carry the load should Bell go down for any extended period. A quality veteran rb would be nice insurance to have.

Well, didn't say he was but his 2 knee injuries would have happened to anyone and last year he carried a heavy heavy workload before getting injured. Dwill plays a fraction of the snaps that Bell gets and went down with injures both seasons.

So my point was, if you are worried about Bell getting hurt, why is backing him up with someone fragile a good plan?

Conner will be more than capable, I think people will be pleased with what he brings to the field.

At this point, we wait and see if a vet is cut in another camp who would better serve us for a couple of years?

if they could carry the load they would be playing on another team most likely and carrying their load. fitz and davis have a lot of game action in this league. conner is a rookie but he carried the load for pitt in college.

Wrong, Conner is perfectly capable of backing up Bell, or even being the starting back if needed, Back is the one position that rookie backs can easily transition from college to nfl, did elliot have any problem making the transition last year, I have every confidence in a big back like conner to have a good productive rookie year and being a corner stone for our running game this year and into the future.....

For anyone who seriously wants DeAngelo back, let me remind you he gained just 34 yards against New England. He averaged 2.4 yards per attempt. If that's "the man". Then find me the boy.

I'm not questioning any of this. That still doesn't mean you don't look to see what's available when camp cuts are made.

If a back gets cut in camp, we dont need him! We know what conner can do, he scored 20 TDs last year....

I just checked, his NFL stats for last year are 0 0 0.0

What he did in college is old news.

I hope he's everything you believe but he's done nothing in the NFL. Banking solely on that is myopic.

Your telling me what rookies do in college dont affect their draft status? Running backs especially transition to the NFL smoother than at any other position, and conner scored 20 TDs, I forget to add the 4 TDs he scored from receptions, barring injury he should have a good year and a good future here.....

I think we have a new man crush greater than PWP/DHB.

Plus he beat cancer in college. As we all know, the Patriots are a cancer. Hopefully, that skill-set translates to the pro's as well.

It's crazy who these teams stick by. You got DWill who loves the city, people, and organization. Yet, Toussaint is still on the roster after fumbling away our chance at a Super Bowl. Knile Davis doesn't look like he cares about being in Pittsburgh from social media. Pretty sure we only got him for KR. Once some RBs start going down DWill be the first one they call. I like James Connor, I just don't feel like he's back-up ready yet. I think he will be a project.
