i have come to the conclusion if I am gonna participate on this board with some of you I have to become an expert.lol I mean this draft must have really sucked. so I looked at it and broke it down just like a real live expert

rd1 tj watt. lets face it. he wasn't gonna be there in the second. sure foster was there but there are questions with his character. i wanted him but completely understand why they didn't pick him. go ahead a take a great athlete with an awesome motor and good pedigree. he can rush the passer and play in coverage. grade A

rd2 juju smith-Schuster wr. every single mock i seen had the steelers taking a wr. some even in first rd. this kid is a football player. i have watched some tape past 2 days on him and he does everything they like. he blocks, he has football speed, he catches the ball in traffic plus he helps in other areas. i see him right now as a poor mans hines ward and if he comes anywhere close to that he would be worth a 1st. was it a huge need? i think yes. Bryant isn't dependable. coates isn't either. Rodgers and Hamilton are average at best. hunter is a wildcard. a ton of talent but he hasn't shown it yet.

we have all seen what happens when brown has no help. it aint pretty. grade b+

rd3 Cameron Sutton cb. bottom line. before broken ankle. 1st rd pick. no doubt. he has all the talent. he has played in a mess for 2 years before things halfway calmed down at tenn. he has speed and man skills. something if i recall, we need. he will contribute this year. i even think before the year is over he is our 2nd corner. grade A

rd3 James Conner. all i am gonna say is there anyone who doubts if he had stayed healthy he would have been a sure fire 1st rd back. i believe he could be a steal especially if we cant sign bell next year. he blocks, catches the ball, and everyone knows how he runs. i cant believe anyone would critize spending a 3rd pick on him. i mean you cant wait and hope. besides, watch the hey rookie on espn with ben throwing to conner.lol grade A+

rd4 josh dobbs. i am on record saying i didn't want him. i knew how they fell in love with him at pro day and was prepared for the pick. listen, he is a freakishly nice guy. he is way above average on intelligence and i think that is what his problem was. he over thought everything. he is willing to put in the work. he will not be any kind of problem at all and nobody knows what he will be in 3 or 4 years. its a 4th round pick on a guy that might be a starter after ben. grade B

rd5 brian allen cb. i will admit i know nothing about this guy. he has great size and was a wr until a couple years ago? his highlights look good but everyones does. he has 4 ints in 12 games so i am assuming he has the ability to cover. he was picked where he was projected by some and later than some so i guess we got good value. with his size, we will find out what lake can do wiith him grade B

rd 6 colin hulba ls ok all i will say is if you want one might as well get the best one available.lol it will save money? i know i am reaching but hey, maybe he can do other things grade c

rd7 Keion adams olb all i know is they say he is raw but has all the tools. he has speed and that is a plus. good size. no complaints. grade B

so now that you have heard from an expert you can all rest easy. this draft was a homerun.lol seriously, i see a lot of good players with high character and high football iQ. they all have high level experience and i always say that matters. i think we have 3 starters this year out of it. 5 that will see the field including the long snapper.lol

i guess i am just trying to figure out the negativity and yes i know it happens every year but this year seems worse.

I'm happy with the draft. But I'm a homer so I have that going for me.

That's true about Sutton playing in a mess the past few years. That's kinda what amazed me about the fact that so many Vols were coming off the board. The accuracy problems for Dobbs are definitely there. Today my wife's uncle said "I like Josh Dobbs and he is a great kid but it always seemed like he was throwing it 10 yards over his guys head". That has to change. Also his run first instinct will have to change as well because with Burfict out there he will just get straight up killed in our division.

I think Watt and Sutton will play the most of these rookies, I expect Conner to get 3-5 carries a game. With the Steelers problems in the redzone maybe they can use Conner some as a redzone threat.

Definitely up there for sure. Not sure I could rank it higher than Airplane though. Also, good analysis on the draft. Steelers had their standard solid draft. Nothing flashy. I went to a draft party at my soon-to-be brother-in-law's. Most of them were Bear's fans and I had a good time watching them lament the Bear's decisions.

Maybe the front office was just watching Ben sail some his passes last year and thought, "Ah-ha! We've found his replacement!"

If not, it's the most quoted movie of all time. "Hey usually you get a bowl of soup with a hat like that!"

Being a homer means never having to say you're sorry for your optimism.

Around here that usually means you hate EVERYTHING this team does. Good to see someone with something good to say.

I agree with the OP's assessment of this draft. I'm really happy with the picks that were made, and I'm even happier that there weren't any serious reaches that left us wondering WTF they were thinking. I LOVE the TJ pick. Watching him up here in Madison I've though all year he is developing better than JJ, but needed 1 more year to develop the strength to go with the ability.
