Everyone thinks we are drafting a pass rusher, but...

Can anyone make a case for something crazy like a RB, OL, NT, or another 3-4 DE?

Or maybe a little more likely like a ILB, Safety, WR, or Cornerback?

I think it could certainly be a S or CB depending who's left on the board. Maybe even an ILB. If it was a WR, it signals that the Steelers have no desire to hold on to Bryant.

    RB - no
    NT - no
    DE - no
Maybe an OT? But I doubt it.

Jarrod Davis, ILB. He and Shazier would control the middle.

Chris Wormley could be sitting there in the first, do you think Steelers might actually draft a 1st round 3-4 DE? Steelers have to like this guy, seems like a good fit in the Steelers defense.

Steelers have taken an interest in the Saftey Maye from Florida. I don't know if Maye is 1st round caliber, but I would not hate the idea of a safety in the first? I think Mitchell might break down sooner than later with his style of play.

TE/WR has to be in play too. I'm not sure who though? I feel all our WRs outside of AB are largely unproven. It is a perceived position of strength, but easily could be a weakness depending on how things play out.

I love Chris Wormley, but no the Steelers can't take him in Round 1. Already have Heyward and Tuitt.

I hope not unless Howard falls that far (which I think is really unlikely). I think the rest of the TEs are 3rd round talent at best.
I think Safety is solidly in play if the right guy falls.

I could see(based on the players who might be available):

    WR
    TE
    OT
    OLB
    ILB
    QB
    CB
    S

So, basically the only positions I don't imagine them taking in the 1st is: DL, C, OG, RB, P, K

i think if the right safety or safeties fall it makes our defense very versatile. we can probably do more with that position than any other in this hybrid defense. i worry about big hit mitchell getting ejected from games if these new rules are brought to bare.

i hope we don't draft tankersly with the first. his willingness to tackle leaves a lot to be desired. the coverage part is OK.

depending on who drops i could see.

    S
    OLB
    CB
    WR
and a slight chance of QB.

Do you think he'd be worth a 1st as a pure WR who doesn't block? Because that's who he is.

I could see CB, S, and WR being in play along with OLB of course. WR being the long shot out of the 4. There's just too many good defensive players in play at that part of the round imo.

I thought I seen a video on himy blocking well? I may be wrong. But to answer, yes I think he is worth a 1st. He is a freakish athlete who will be a match up nightmare

For a TE to be a match up nightmare, he needs to actually be a TE, and not just a WR. A matchup nightmare at TE is a guy who the defense needs to account for as a blocker in the run game as well as a receiving threat. He's a receiving threat, and that's it. I also have a big problem with a 250 lb. TE who gives as little effort as he does blocking. To me that's a sign that he may not be a team player.

I remember one goal line play where Miami ran to his side, and he had to block a DB who was lined up on the edge in front of him. The DB ate Njoku's lunch and stopped the running play cold.

Friends unless the Steelers change their spots,
A TE that can't block a little or have the desire to block
will never suit up for the Black and Gold. I too am scared of L Green.
But the Steelers made an investment in him, and maybe to proud to admit
that not enough research was done on him medically. It is a shame.
