Living in Cleveland, and watching the Clowns swing and miss in their draft every year, I would have to agree that, yes - Colbert is really that good.

I won't be surprised if the Clowns are able to screw up their 4th and 22nd picks this year. :lolol:

Not just the Browns. If you go over a 12 year stretch, just pick a team! Some people on this board don't hesitate to say that even for the very last pick in the first round, #32, a solid starter is not good enough! He must be a star! A playmaker! That's what first rounders are for!

At least we can debate how good of a GM the Steelers have as opposed to here in Bungle land where they just have the owner, his daughter and then the coach to make these final decisions all based on the thoughts of 3 scouts.
I guess its really not a bad plan if you consistently draft in the top 10 it really is difficult to miss on those 1st round picks even though they have proven in the past to do just that.

Colbert and his scouting dept has been good at judging skill position players
along with LB's. They have been terrible in line selection players and it shows horribly.

I think it's part of the Maddenfication of the spectator. Or the influence of fantasy football - after all, that list that diehard linked to seemed to be more concerned with fantasy numbers more than, say, reliability.

As someone else said earlier, the key to answering the OPs question is really the number of players on our starting line up that we drafted ourselves. Now, some of them aren't necessarily that good, for all that, but the key point to remember is that you only get a Polamalu or a Pouncey once in a blue moon (and I still remember the days in Troy's rookie season when people were declaring him a bust...).

I agree he is a good back. I just don't agree with using a first round pick on a RB - ever. Too many injuries at that position. There are all kinds of cheaper alternatives - including Redman, that would have done just as good over the last few years.
