awuzie just ran well. i think he's another guy that could move to FS for us. still liking king to for that spot. would love to see him drop down to us day two.

i do like adoree but he may be out of our reach and may even go day one.

kazee is my sleeper for us day two.

lewis from michigan too. again may not fall to our pick.

    We are so aligned lately....

Obi has game changer matchup potential. A guy who can roam single high and also man up power receivers inside (gronk)...

As I told you, great minds think alike do they not? :thumbs up:

Not to mention fitting Tomlin's ethos to the "T"; his versatility and solid tackling abilities to boot. Outside of some "stiffness" quibbles (coaching can fix this), he is my personal round one odds on favorite.

So, I need to go and watch tape on Obi. I have seen him play in person several times, but I certainly didn't focus on him exclusively, and I yet to watch film on him in isolation. I'm a bit surprised. I knew from watching him in person that he's a good athlete, but I never expected this.

Take Obi at #30, then you have someone to cover Gronk. Obi said he can play some CB too, the Steelers could use some versatility in the secondary.

Ah.... this feels like the 2015 NFL Draft for me.

Here is hoping I can match my personal best percentage of correct draft picks.

Wait a minute, you have seen him in person and he doesn't jump out at you? That scares me. He should have dominated
the Big East conference with those measurables.

Well, let's make sure what I'm saying is clear - I have not yet watched any film on him, and am simply saying that I didn't see an all-time great combine performance coming. I knew he was a really good player, and that wouldn't have changed if he had jumped 39" instead of 44" or 11' instead of 11'9". The measurable that surprised me the most was a 4.40 40. I expected him to be a 4.55 kind of guy based on watching him in person. Until I watch tape, I won't be able to make my "amateur scout" assessment. I've only watched him as a fan, mostly in person with 21 other guys running around, and with a focus on the whole play - not just Obi. My impression (and that's all it can be at this point) from watching live in person was that he is a very solid in-the-box safety prospect who makes consistently good plays attacking downhill - stopping the run, tackling the catch on the short pass, breaking up the deep inside routes on occasion, etc. However, my impression was also that he was frequently late on the deep ball - whether in the middle of the field or outside the hashes. Until I go back and watch tape on him, and focus on what he's doing, I can't say for sure why that happened with any frequency. All I can say now is that it gives me pause until I have time to watch film. Back during the season I knew he'd be a draftable player. I was figuring anywhere from the 3rd - 5th round back then. I saw the high pick coming for past UCONN guys like Byron Jones and Sio Moore. I didn't see it coming with Obi. Believe me, as a UCONN guy I'm thrilled to see him so high on the NFL's radar, and I hope he becomes a Pro Bowl safety - for us or an NFC team

His mate Brian Allen did very well at the combine as well, he needs technique work but could play safety at 6-3 215 did run a 4.48 40, he would certainly be worth a later round pick, he had 4 picks last year at corner but would be a better fit at safety for us....

Honestly, I don't think Obi is going to be drafted in the first. He might make it to our 2nd pick.

No chance. His measurable's alone will get him drafted before then.

If he is in the second round, he will be gone very early by then. Someone like Arizona would not mind having such a phsycial speciem line up with Tyrann Matheiu.

Not much film out there on Kazee, but I like what I've seen. I like how he attacks the run game and tackles the catch in the one game of his on draft breakdown. He's probably a slot guy only in the NFL, but that's one of our needs.

ike taylor said he was his favorite at the combine. awuzie is also a guy that plays a lot like kazee. bigger too. could even play some safety. i really like these two. our scouts are at colorado's pro day. some pretty good and fast DB's out there.

I know you like Awuzie, but his tendency to tackle high has me concerned. And with the de-emphasis of tackling during practices, could that be an issue?

he does at times but i think it's more of a situational thing than a bad habit. he makes some nice text book tackles to for the most part. very good instincts in coverage. jumps off his coverage quit often to make plays on a different receiver than his own. pretty solid player. not sure he gets out of the 2nd round.
