That's what his agent said per CBSSports, sure give him a 2 year deal for the vet minimum.

They will give him more than vet min for the first year but the second year will have no big repercussions if he retires or they release him. 8th best rated OLB IIRC for this past year. He knows they don't have squat if he doesn't re-sign. He's got some leverage this year similar to what he does to OTs. Nothing crazy but it won't be vet min imo. Unless.....they have designs on another OLB FA and they hold off talks for 13 days or so...

Thanks to Jarvis, he does have some negotiating leverage. Vet min and I'm fine with it.

I agree. Vet minimum is insulting for what he's given us since he came back.

Sign him to a five year deal for all I care as long as there are little to no guarantees. :)

OT, but when I was a kid I had a football sim game for a PC. It was around 1987, and it ran on MS DOS. But you still got to run a team, call the plays, draft etc.

For some reason, the game never really noticed the age of players, and one season I noticed that my starting OLB was now 56 years old, and still making the pro bowl.

I guess James Harrison had that game too.

Doesn't James remember what happened when he tried to play hardball with the Rooney's
the last time when he was exiled to Cincy?

I think that's the point. The only reason to ask for more than 1 year is the bonus money up front.

Based on his play last year, he deserves more than vet minimum. But I doubt what he has in the tank for the second year. Sign him for 2 seasons for minimum plus the rest in signing bonus for this year to what ever level is fair.

For cap purposes the signing bonus would be spread over 2 years, so if we give him a $4 million signing bonus and cut him after 1 year, there is $2 million in dead money for 2018.

2 years on a JH deal equals 28 NFL random drug tests.

I think he gets what he wants as it actually benefits us since we can spread that signing bonus over 2 years and pay him more. Yes we end up with some dead money, but we can structure it where that isn't going to really hurt us.

His vet minimum under the 2017 vet min pay scale is 1 million$ per year, however I think he is trying to get more than a 1 mill a year for two years, I think since he started last year he's thinking starter money and he should think about how things turned out for him the last time he got greedy......

He will be signed to a cap friendly deal and then get a little envelope slid to him. Bottom line is I would like to see him be a situational player going forward. I believe he would have been this past season if any year now Jarvis could have proved his worth in which again he failed...

I would too if I were him. He was probably one of the top 5 or 10 values in the league last season other than guys playing on rookie contracts.

He doesn't have leverage, because no other team is going to sign him and he wants to play in Pittsburgh. If he asks for too much they can tell him to take a hike, and sign another OLB in FA.

Much better chance #92 plays out two full seasons than Bell, Bryant, Shazier or Green at this point. Give the man what he wants. He certainly has proven his worth.

As long as he's still producing and providing leadership to the younger crew, I say sign him.
