    Quote:

"I have to stay youthful out there," Timmons recently told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. "When you're 30, [your body] is not the same. I can't just go out there and be the way I was."

Well that ship has sailed in coverage. Can't have cement shoes trying to cover. Appreciate what Timmons has brought but the position requires more speed with the Defense that is run.

Translation, he's asking too much. Go and see if you can find that elsewhere and if not, come back and lower your price.

Wonder if his agent cringed at that quote. Not really doing yourself any favors telling teams you aren't the same. Not that it is a secret but that doesn't mean you go around acknowledging it.

Letting him test the market is the right thing. Of course pulling him off the field in obvious pass situations is as well (unless we are going to blitz him) but we didn't do that regularly.

I wonder who'll take a look at him. Apart from Arizona, obviously.

And this is typical of the Steelers. It keeps both sides happy. If you get an offer and want to to stay here, fine we may match it. Both sides happy. If the Steelers don't want to match it he moves on, both sides happy.

I don't think he will get offered anything we can't matchaikovsky. In my opinion we can't afford to lose him

i think its smart. the Steelers tend to hang on to guys that are up in age a little too much. especially on defense and when DL was still there. the coaching staff finally broke the mold last year by letting 3 rookies start and it payed off. maybe they learned something from that decision.

i like Timmons. hes been a great Steeler, but like all of them their day eventually comes. ive always had the opinion that i would rather see them get beat using the young guys that are their future rather than the old guys that cant get it done anymore. they can only learn so much standing on the sidelines.

    Im fine with that.

He'll be 31 in May. Cant cover and costs $15mill a year. Good luck.

Would you prefer we get a FA next to Shazier or a Draft Pick?

Vince Williams is not an option, he's a backup for a reason.

I say Draft Pick. Haason Reddick 6'1 237(same size as Shazier) from Temple can cover TEs, RBs and SWRs. He was a former CB. He's around a 4.4 guy, but this article says he's trying to hit 4.3.

    http://www.steelersdepot.com/2017/0...lect-temple-edge-haason-reddick-30th-overall/

Can you imagine having 2 hard hitting, explosive ILBs that run a 4.3??

    That be crazy!!!

He was the starter the year before we drafted Shazier. He has the same problems Timmons does. He cant cover.

As much as I would love Pittsburgh to have a dynamic interior duo... too much emphasis has been placed on the pass rush. Be it from Art Rooney II (He said "Pass Defense" so who knows but pass rush helps), Kevin Colbert, Mike Tomlin or someone else.... to get back to the big game, you need to get to the qaurterback; Tom Brady or otherwise.

He'll be doing the steelers a favour since they're known for holding onto players for too long. Gay can go too

In today's NFL Teams pass so much that Timmons is not as valuable as he was even 5 years ago ...OC'S have learned that if the D puts to many down hill players on the field they will switch the play and pass the ball....The LB position is really the new SS and the SS position is really the new FS and the FS position is really a CB ...

The weapons that Offenses are using commands guys who can cover and cover at a high level...To get pressure on QB'S teams must be able to take the quick throws away and Timmons can not do that as such I think his market value is fairly low...

Vince Williams and then draft another. Timmons should only come back if the price right. 10 Years playing inside linebacker in the NFL takes a toll.
His best years are behind him. But, Timmons was a class act for his time here. I wish him nothing but the best.

Save the money sign Tuitt to a longer term deal.

I'd like to see what Dirty Red has after a season in the pro's. He's really a smart kid and that's totally under-rated by the Steelers IMHO.

The Patriots get away with the players they do on defense due to knowing the game plan and sticking to it. Making the correct reads in down and distance.

    Plus, he can tackle....
