Hines Ward didn't make the cut, for WRs Terrell Owens and Isaac Bruce made it.

Faneca was a RG, so was Brendan Stai, if you expect one to get in you got to put the other in.

Hines should get the nod, played like a kamikaze with no ACL in one leg, if i got the right ligament. Who was more clutch than Hines for those years he played?

How does Hines not make the cut? wtf If this isn't first ballot then the world has gone crazy.

23rd all time in receiving yards.
19th player in NFL history to reach 12K receiving yards
14th all time with 1000 receptions. 8th player in NFL history to reach 1000 catches.
15th all time in receiving TD's.
    2 SB rings.
    SB MVP.
    5x probowler, 3 x all pro
Best blocking WR the game has ever seen.
Owns several team receiving records. For the Pittsburgh friggen steelers no less.
Also consider the fact that he impacted every game, even when he wasn't racking up receiving stats. He was as clutch as they come. He played a huge roll in the steelers getting to 3 SB's and winning 2 of them.

How on earth is that not a first ballot HOF'er. Put those #'s into context.... he was playing in run first offense. Often had terrible Qb's...and still did all that. Oh and I'm guessing he was the first Korean born player in NFL history to do anything at any position worth remembering..

As for Faneca. He was the best OG in the league for almost a decade. 9x pro bowler, 6x all pro. SB ring. Not sure what more an OG can do to earn a gold jacket.

I know we all got on our Steelers goggles but those aren't 1st ballot numbers. TO isn't even 1st ballot, he has had to wait years. He's #2 all time in receiving yards, almost double Hines touchdowns, and more catches. Unfortunately blocks, being a team player, and actually being likable don't factor in.

TO doesn't have SB rings and a SB MVP under his belt. IMO this is what puts Ward over the edge. TO played in several pass first offenses to rack up stats but not wins. Ward put up pro bowl numbers and won.

Blocking and team impact should factor in also. It's about best WR's ever. Obviously catching and running with the ball is what matters most but you also look at the other stuff. TO deserves to be a HOF WR but he's got plenty of negatives about his game that should also factor in. If you statistically rank among the best ever then you should be in the HOF. In the 4 stats that matter most: Catches, Yards, TD's, and SB's Ward is among the best ever. Add in the fact that he was arguably the best blocking WR's and hardest hitting WR's ever that is just gravy.

The blocking should factor in, SDOT. They changed the rule book because of his devastating blocks. I think he gets in for sure. Just not this year unfortunately.

I don't think that matters. HoF is more of an individual accomplishment and they don't hold it against you for playing on bad teams. Marino was 1st ballot with no rings.

It should factor in but they don't keep track of that. Hines will definitely get in but I can understand why he isn't 1st ballot and I'm a huge homer.

I am not upset with Ward not making the cut, the way I see it and look at it is this. The NFL just wants a Steeler every year so they made sure by keeping Ward off the list until next year. Congrats to Big Red!

A travesty that these two were named before Ward. Faneca deserves the nod...

Going to be hard for Ward to get in until Issac Bruce and TO get in. Then he should have a legit shot.

Faneca has a good shot, they will put a lineman in, his biggest battle will be over coming Jacoby who was a big memeber of the famed Hogs line with the Redskins back in the 80's.

    Faneca played LEFT GUARD.

IIRC, he played some LT in '03 when Steelers went 6-10.

I believe he waited 13-14 years. He got inducted in 2001 and Stallworth was 2002.

As would I... It's still early for him though. Even though T.O. is a piece of garbage human being, he still put up good stats. Isaac Bruce also had a good career, but I could've seen Hines getting in over him. Hines will make it in due time. As for Faneca, I think he's a lock to make it this year.

I understand this will not be the popular opinion but keep in mind guys that many wide receivers do not make it on their first shot; second the same.

Hines will have to wait a while before he is inducted. Alan, however, will not take long.

hoping they make it also. Id be curious how many WPA ball players are in the hall.

Ward still will be second fiddle after they get in, Randy Moss is HOF eligible in 2018, then of course 3 years later calvin johnson will be eligible and he is almost guaranteed to be a first ballot, so hines will have to wait till moss gets in and thats after TO and Bruce with megatron waiting in the wings, tough climb for ward but eventually his time will come......

If Ward would have played for the Rams during their offensive reign or any pass first offense we've seen over the last 20 years, he'd easily rank near the top in every major category. Correct that, he's already near the top in every category that counts. He'd be top 3 in ever stat for sure. Imagine what he'd be doing today if he was just hitting his prime now.

If Mike Irvin is a HOF WR , then you can be damn sure Ward is. Irving made a living on offensive pass interference and getting away with it. He was the greatest ever at pushing off. I watched Irvin's entire career. I watched Ward's career. Ward had more yards, more receptions, and more TD's than Irving. The difference - Irving's mouth and the love of coke and hookers. Wonder how good Ward would have been if he was coked up every game? Well that could explain that smile on his face all game, but that's another conversation.
