Good luck in life james i think we will see him as a coach one day. Maybe not for the steelers but his football smarts are through the roof.

Nothing but love for James, but yeah... his gas tank is empty. This would not surprise me at all.

I would like one more year out of him...as I would take him with an empty tank over Foote with half a tank......No one else on the roster currently IMO.

Thats funny...I remember hearing back shortly after the season for them ended and rumors of "old guys"/etc being cut that his agent said James would be back/etc. Make up your mind, haha.

Sometimes he shows he still has it...others he just looks terrible. And he should NEVER be covering a TE, wow.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. I wish him well with whatever happens.

I would take Foote over Farrior just because he's younger and he did play better than Farrior last year. But both have to take a reduce salary.

At times yes I would have to agree with you that he played better at times. Most though dont like Foote and think he's terrible so yeah...who knows.

    :lolol:

Farrior may be an old man, but Foote's been playing like an old man since his rookie season. We need to find Farrior's replacement this offseason, but I'd keep him around to either ease the transition or be a backup, depending on who the replacement is.

Both Farrior and Foote could leave, Its time for both to go,
Both were very good Steelers, we will move on from here. Potsy
was probably the best FA signing ever for the Steelers.

Man, its hard to say goodbye to these warriors that are asked to retire or get cut.In times past, either the player leaves for more money or they played so bad that we cut them and we had their obvious replacement.

If we loose both starting LB's I could see this organization going LB in the first round. I don't want them to, but I could see that happening. This defense is based on LB's. They need a smart student of the game for this position.

PS - I just heard on espn that Robert Griffin III might be going to the Browns. If so, YIKES, this division just got a whole lot scarier.

Loose both starting LBs? What other starting LB could we loose but Farrior?

I think what he is saying is that if farriors isnt there foote would be the starter so technically we would be losing two starting lbers

I will not be sad to see Farrior go, thats not to say I think he was a bad player. I just feel he has been out of gas for at least the plast two years. Yes he has moments, but for the most part he is only playing because we dont have anyone else to fill his shoes. This does not mean we have to keep him. The younger players need to step up or ship out. We need to find someone who can play and play well for 60 minutes. Foote on the other hand ( no pun intended ) does very well in run support but not so well in pass coverage. I think Foote is much better than Timmons in run defense, but Timmons is better in pass coverage, neither Timmons or Foote have shown much in pass rush, probably because our inside backers dont rush the QB as often as the outside guys. But back to the subject, its a sad day , but a day that has to come, and its time for farrior to move on.

Timmons is better then foote at everything. The problem is with farrior being slow timmons was always having to play pass first run second. Timmons hits harder is bigger and more athletic then foote. If we had another guy that could cover timmons would blow all kinds of plays up but right now he has to hesitate.

That was courtesy of TTF after I remarked that I wished I could edit an older version of his goofy "oh goody" reaction gif into that. :)

I disagree that Timmons is better. Foote stuffs the run better than any LB'er on the team. I have seen Foote fill the hole more times and better than all the rest. Timmons usually gets there too but doesnt fill the hole, usually he makes the tackle being pushed backwards. Foote is stronger or uses his leverage better. Foote is just a better run defender in my opinion.

Foote is not even as goot at stuffing the run as Farrior.

Its comments like that that make me question so many NFL fans. Farrior is way past his prime and is no way the player he used to be. Right now Foote is the better player. Foote is better than Timmons at stopping the run too. I am not saying Farrior in his prime wasnt the best fit for our defense, what I am saying is right now, at this point in their careers, its over for Farrior. Foote has gas left in the tank. Timmons, well lets just say I havent been impressed for a full season yet. I will give Timmons moments and flashes, but he disappears for long stretches and is often out of position and over pursues his assignments. Timmons should be so much better than he is based on all the hype the guy gets from fans in Pittsburgh. I honestly dont know what you all see in Timmons. Compare stats with Foote and Farrior vs Farrior and Timmons , the defense was better with Foote. Timmons only got to play because he was Tomlins first draft pick and he had to play...Foote was forced out but not because of lack of performance but because Timmons couldnt play with him still here. Once Foote was gone, Timmons was given the spot.
