Are the Steelers going to let Casey Hampton come back? According to
Colbert, they are. I think this would be a mistake, I know we are depleated
at the NT position,I just think it will be to hard for Big Snack to come back
from an ACL at this point in his career, plus he is not a work out warrior,
It could be a lost year and money being spent on this type of player. Lets draft
our future NT If we are going to stay with the 3-4. Hampton's cap hit is large,
I could see us using it for younger players. Could we try Woodley at DE position?
Worilds would take over his spot

Hoke retired and hampton out with acl.Man,this really forces the steelers hand.We also need to replace farrior. We also need to get a stud olineman. And yet again ,we have to sacrifice picking a stud at cb.

This is i think the third acl injury for hampton and they didnt even think he was going to need surgery im sure they are going to ask him to take a pay cut and if he does his rehab right he will actually be in decent shape. Like colbert said he is not a rb he doesnt make cuts or rapid momentum.changes. if he takes a pay cut we pretty much need him back.

He needs to be cut.....all he does is stand there. He no longer takes u 2 blockers cause they know he is not moving.

And hope a rookie can do better. Mclendon did a decent job and unless he put on thirty pounds he is just not big enough. Right when the off season began i was all for cutting him but stepping back and looking at the situation we need him. Poe looks like the real deal well so did mount cody and look how that has turned out. Im just saying i dont want to have to trust a rookie.

We need Snack back... but he needs to restructure and take a pay cut.

If we take Poe in the first round, it would be really awesome for him to have Casey to learn from (who I think is the best pure NT of the past 10 years) rather than being pushed into starting in the middle of one of the best and most complex schemes in the NFL.

Billick said poe and hampton are the same person and hamptin is poes favorite player so i think it would be great for him to be here amd i believe he will take a pay cut i dont see the steelers paying him 8 mil.

Not sure what Hampton would even offer a rookie at this point......teach him how to stand there and get as big as possible? Hampton himself said he is not a film person. The future is now......

I've said before...with this injury and Hampton playing 2 downs (if that) he is NOT worth $8-9 mil...he needs to restructure. If they draft Poe (or someone who can step right in) then I wouldnt be against them just cutting Hampton (esp if they wont restructure)...I wouldnt have any problem with a rookie doing the job of clogging up the middle.

I would cut Hampton and I would not draft 1 in the 1st. or 2nd. rounds unless we have extra picks......

With the way the NFL is going we will only face a few run 1st. Teams a year and if we can score the ball they will abandon the run as well.....The amount of snaps guys are taking at the pure NT position a game is a joke and no way should they yake up so much money......

Now if we can get a guy who can play all 3 spots at a high level then you draft that guy without a doubt.....I see no such guy........

While true in the main, it was generally the teams who ran effectively against us last season that made us look bad. Though I take your point that the NT shouldn't be among the biggest earner on the team - all the more so if he's dropping oout on 3rd down.

I also agree that drafting won't necessarily fill the big hole that big snak will leave. My thinking is that an existing player will slot into his position, while a rookie sits on the bench next season.
