I mean in this current time? Only 2 sacks allowed past 7 games. Homer or not I would like your thoughts on why or why not?

Also, where do you rank this line is steeler history?

This line is really good. LeVeon gets more than is blocked more often than not, but man did they open some holes for him. Ben not getting sacked as much is nice too. I think Bell is part of that as well tho. He knows he doesn't have to extend the play too long for a big play, he can just outlet it to Bell and let him do his thing.

Dallas' line has far superior talent but Pittsburgh's seems to be the better coached. Within the same token, Pittsburgh does not put enough capital into the bookends as many other teams do like Dallas yet still find success.

In terms of where this line ranks... easily the best I have ever seen in my lifetime as a Steelers fan (came on in 2008 people). As for totality.... someone like Blast or SteelElvis has to answer that I am afraid.

In short? In spite of what New York did to them Sunday, Dallas' offensive line is still the gold standard while Pittsburgh is a close second followed by Green Bay. After that, Kansas City and Atlanta round out my personal top five.

Steelers are 12th least called for holding, Oakland Baltimore Denver and Dallas in that order with most.

We are 9th in rushing per game. In NFL.com we are ranked 2nd in total o line ranking, behind Oakland in rushing success + sacks allowed.

    Top 5

The online is doing a great job because Ben hasn't been sacked and Bell has been running wild... but they are nowhere near as good as Dallas online. Decastro holding penalties hurt/kill drives. Vinny, is better, but not an elite left tackle

The only guy that gets sacked less than Ben is Carr in Oakland. Being number @ in sacks allowed says a lot about Villanueva, a guy that makes 480k a year.

This line is well coached, and in my opinion the only weak link is Pouncey, he gets man handled by everybody it seems.

Both lines are working hard and getting coached up, and Haley has finally got their heads in the game. Thats the secret to Bellicheks success, he challenges his guys mentally to keep their head in the game to where they are focused on football while they are eating, sleeping, and chewing bubble gum.

I almost lost hope for awhile there, the Steelers were so vanilla and predictable every week, that you knew what they were going to do before the play. Now, they shift and scheme flow almost effortlessly.

Steelers oline is improving, making three consolidated all-pros' life easier.
D's oline makes two rookies look like all-pros.

    Enough said.

He does not have one sack credited to him and not one penalty, I believe. That's your weak link?? Damn, nice work Munchak. Blockin' is boomin'!

    Reality Check!!!!!

The Steelers O-Line is good not great by any means but good.

First off Decastro and Pounced are athletic bUT at times can be moved significantly. Foster and Gilbert are huge but don't always play with an edge (probably because we throw so much, O-Lines typically like to maul in the run game not necessarily protect in passing)
Villanueva God Bless him is the weak link of the O-Line at the second most important position outside of center. His technique sometime lacks and foot work often is sluggish. Most don't realize it but he really is a backup
Against the run the line looks decent BUT
The TRUE test comes against a speed rush team like Baltimore, watch Villanueva against them and then talk to me. The left tackle for Dallas is one of the best I've seen in a while, big, physical, and quick feet.

Thank you. Weak link and manhandled was probably the most absurd thing I have ever read on this board and Ive seen a lot.

I personally think this may be the best Steelers line since 2004-2005.

Marvel Smith, Jeff Hartings, Simmons, Faneca, Max Starks did pretty good.

This line we have is great. But, it's also the first time it's had stayed healthy and in tact.

Wow. I don't think you're giving the OL enough credit. They absolutely dominated the Bills and did a great job against a strong Giants DL. Ben has been sacked, what, one time in the last 3 or 4 games including 0 sacks in 2 of the last 3. Bell just ran for a Steelers record of 236 yards. I'm not saying this is the best line in the NFL but if they keep this kind of performance going there is no reason why we can't ascend to those lofty heights! Great job by Mike Muhchak!!!

pouncey is a gifted on the move player. he is one guy that can hit multiple targets on the move.

DD maybe not the best in pass protection always but he can also move in the run game and has brains which helps him.

finney has drive and has some smarts and mobility. he works to get better. it shows.

foster has size and some smarts also. lunch pail type.

gilbert has been a work in progress. great size but munch has put the work in with him and even changed his body type for the better.

AV munch has helped him also get used to the new bigger body he has aquired. villy has brains and the work ethic from his military background that will make him get better every game. he brings that to the other guys. that band of brothers mentality. shear size is an attribute for him, but add the other gifts and he will only make this group better together.

hubbard has some mobility and has worked to get better. not easy to learn all these positions so mentally he has something going on.

munch played with brains and drive and is the glue that this group wants to play for and the respect he deserves drives these guys. they will continue to get better under munch.

all in all having a coach with this type of lunch pail thinking. some players with talent, brains and a will to buy into what he's teaching and some additions with great work ethics have advanced this whole group to excel. i don't think we have seen they're best ball to this day yet.

i'm excited to see what munch can add to this group with the 3 ir'ed guys too going forward. we have a talented bunch top to bottom with a leader that is second to none.

dallas my azz. munch has done more with less.

Not as good , but being Coached the right way ..Pouncey is just not strong enough against a big guy heads up ...I would still say a top 5 OL overall ....

Think its too early to compare but its looking pretty good. Early 2000 we had a line with Faneca, Marvel and Hartings on it, that was a great line.

90's you had Dirt Dawson, Justin (not even going to attempt his last name, I'll butcher it from memory) and Searcy on a line together (might be my favorite, I liked this line alot)

80's saw Webster and Tunch playing together.

Became a fan in the 70's but too young to offer an opinion on that line. Was far more focused on the star players from that era.

Finney placed in the concussion protocol today. I haven't heard any word on Foster.

    AV was elite last sunday:
    by Shaun O'hara:

Not only did the Steelers pound the rock in snowy conditions, but they were the top-ranked pass-blocking unit last week, according to Pro Football Focus. Although Ben Roethlisberger had a rough day (17 of 31 for 220 passing yards with zero TDs and three INTs), the O-line didn't give up a sack or quarterback hit and allowed just one hurry to a Bills' front that was third in the league in sacks (33) coming into the contest.

The Steelers were again without Ramon Foster (chest injury), so B.J. Finney filled in at left guard. Although Finney gave up the lone hurry and had two penalties, he played fairly well. Left tackle Alejandro Villanueva was the group's best-graded run blocker, according to PFF, while right tackle Marcus Gilbert had the best overall game of the unit. The O-line made Lorenzo Alexander and Jerry Hughes non-factors; however, Kyle Williams did not play and he would've certainly tested Finney. This group controlled the line of scrimmage and helped the Steelers win time of possession.

Isn't Marcus Gilbert considered one of the best RT's right now? Also, if DD had been playing as good as last year our line wouldve been the top right now most likely.

Also, pouncey is good but overrated. Tired of hearing him as the best center

Gilbert has been playing very well the last two years. Very quietly.

Who are you listening to on the Pouncey talk? Commentators? It seems they say this guy is the best if they are broadcasting that game. Then the week before they are covering the Jets and the say Mangold, and the week before they are covering the Cowboys and they say Frederick, etc etc. They are just drumming up interest in the game imo. If there was an award voted on by the players, then that might be different.
